Why are we introducing a mild hybrid in 2026 ?
Mild being the key word here...
Because mild hybrid gives you about 2/3 the benefits of full hybrid for about 1/3 the costs. It’s also about 2 years faster get into mass production.

The technology isn't new and many others have done it inexpensively.
Note the Maverick, Corolla, and on and on.
In the end it pays for itself if the driver does their part...of course most don't know and get dismal mpgs... note C-Max lawsuit....I had one and like all my hybrids I get far better than EPA and I run them hard with no hypermiling nonsense.

Not arguing and I get your point...
Toyota and Ford had it dialed in years ago...

The EV market is crashing in part because consumers have picked hybrids en masse over full EVs. Voting with their wallets. 👍
Battery tech, charging infrastructure and costs are only good enough primarily for “innovators,” and “early adopters.” I got a Model Y on lease special. Favorite vehicle I’ve ever had out of several. That said, they’re barely ready for those in the “early majority” with the best use case for them.

Instead of automakers, other than Tesla, losing billions on inferior EVs for the price, they should have crawled before they ran. Mild hybrid to full hybrid to plugin-in hybrid to extended range EV to THEN first start going all in on EVs several years from now when battery tech and charging infrastructure is superior in performance vs cost to hybrids. It’s like they were acting based on CARB compliance standards and deadlines instead of reality that the rest of the market isn’t as hell bent on EVs yet.

All that said, let’s see how much better EVs start selling if there is a prolonged and major increase in gas/diesel prices.

I have prostituted myself to the lowest bidder and did unspeakable things to obtain the ultimate
long range road cruiser. Obviously I have failed and need your help.

What I require............

* Great seats for a bad back and I do not like tiny bottoms in my rides but- never mind... ; )
* Roomy- I hate when they put you in a cubicle like a Ford Taurus
* No Fords- I hate their seats
* No pickups- AWD or FWD fine- CVT is okay
* Very quiet with minimal road noise
* If hwy mpg is below 25 mpg- no thanks- The more the better- MORE!
* Hybrid ok
* Don't need a prestige brand- been there before
* Reliable- Sometimes I will put 3-4K miles on in one week
* Car-SUV-CUV okay
* Budget.. $25K-$55K NEW!

Thanks!
Camry.

Nice post !!!!
Here in MD I used to get electricity for about nothing and now AI has put a hit on that and I suspect a hit on the EV market....am I wrong???
You’re not wrong. Those closer fast charging cost is to refueling, the slower EV adoption. You lose growth from the big portion of buyers that can’t charge from home.
