Lets talk about new vehicles

I’ve often thought Honda and Subarus for some reason install horns that nobody can hear. Is there a Japanese regulation limiting the decibels to under 30? Meanwhile the most diminutive German car is louder than a Who concert in 1976.

Example brand new CR-Vs

Did you know water freezes at 39F in Germany and Japan 🤔

Yes! When I attended the worldwide ice resurfacing machine convention in Miami, back in the 90’s, a couple German and Japanese reps said their ice is maintained at -1.7 C, whereas you guys do -6.67 C. They had to adjust for the different freezing temps that they have. Not only that their horns are retrofitted with muzzles in Japan and beefed up in Germany!

The tires on the Accord are the Hankook Kinergy GT . OEM

Now I put the
HANKOOK Kinergy PT H737
on my old Mitsubishi and they were rated for 90k miles. The rubber compound was hard as a rock and did impart harshness to the suspension. This may be the Accord issue but I would have to research it... If that was the case it would be a fail on Honda because they engineered the package 📦

Would be a rare OEM tire that makes it remotely near 90k.

The only OEM tire I have personally had that was top quality were the Continentals that came on the Passat.

Had some Kumhos on a Kia that were racing slicks at 29k and as you know the Goodyears on the Stang blow chunks too.

Jetta came with Falkens and they were okay especially considering it was an economy car.

The ones i put on the Mitsubishi were after the junk Nexens and not OEM.
What i was saying is I don't know the difference between the two Hankook tires...I do know the Accords are listed at 500 TW and no.idea on the Mitsubishi rating and could look it up as the vehicle is no longer here

Hondalink app
At this point i think it's a total joke
Honda can't seem to keep its software working... took over a month to sign up and now it's down
Virtually worthless as well as their vehicle update services...

Wow TW was 860 on the
HANKOOK Kinergy PT H737
Crazy
Don't forget UTQG is self reported, no different than mpgs. I had a Bridgestone RE070 that was rated 140 A A. The tires lasted about 39k--I replaced because fronts were fine but rears were down to the treadwear bars.

What is curious to me is how many Michelins now have a B traction rating. For nearly my entire life, I only purchased tires that were A or AA traction.

HANKOOK Kinergy PT H737 were AA too and a great value....
Just not for stiff riders...

imho it takes a lot of back end support to maintain an app. The ones that do, do, and the ones that don't, do not. My buddy is a member at VyStar and they were down I think half a year. Honda is likely the same, overpromise and underdeliver. The key in IT is to do the reverse, that's how one day a person looks down and sees he is CIO. Those folks are still eating steak today, while we look for $1.99/lb chork pops.

The Ford app was well done and offered free services on even the cheapest vehicles like remote start etc. Free and effective.

is there still much value in the traction rating of a locked up tyre, on abs/esp equipped cars?

That said, there's a correlation between traction and rolling resistance and it's inverse so that possibly explains a lot. I have to check the traction rating (if any) on my Maxxis tyres, but they grip like crazy wet and dry, and don't mind light snow at all. I didn't expect that from an OEM tyre, certainly not with a 560 UTQG wear rating.

Hard to say, my hunch is again it's the megapixel conundrum. We want a simple or single way to judge goodness. 2 of my wife's tires on her now defunct Enclave were traction B (in my life this is the only vehicle I've ever had that had 3 different tires on it--warranty replacement at Costco with both times the prior tire being discontinued by Michelin). Did it matter, probably not...

Now if my Pilot Super Sports (2014 I think) or Pilot Sport AS4's had a B for traction, I'd pause and think if I should get them, won't lie....

Yep I use the Ford app daily. Tons of stuff there, you can upload your own service records, and free remote start whether it’s on the car or not.

VW would not give me remote start unless I paid for the option on the car.

Totally agree 👍
