Lets talk about new vehicles

I got pulled over today for no front license plate on my VW.
The officer walks up to the front and finds the plate where it should be

Then asks me a few times if it's my car and simply tells me I am free to go. No apology...it's all good.

It could have been worse eh....

heheheeh. . . that story reminded me of when I was working the road (Trooper) back in the 80's. I had a rural patrol area and was working traffic when I noticed a car go by with no front plate. Upon pulling the car over I realized that it was a woman who worked at the district court that I frequented. I told her why I pulled her over and she immediately spoke up, "no, I've got a front plate on there". I'm thinking, jeez, she's gonna make me look at the front of her car and I'm positive there was no front plate displayed when she went by. So I trod to the front of the car and. . . .holy cow, THERE'S A FRONT PLATE--must be losing my mind! I apologize to her for the inconvenience and send her on her way.

Next time I saw her in court she was joking around about being stopped by me and had a suspicious grin on her face. Finally, she told me to check her car in the parking lot and look at the plate a little closer. Turns out it was held on with two pieces of wire that allowed the wind to flip it horizontal (under the bumper) when it was going down the road, effectively disappearing when the car was moving. Her hubby had done the temporary install of the plate while waiting for a mounting bracket. I'm glad she had a good laugh at my expense!

Ford employee pricing....

My local dealer jacked up the doc fees so high it takes away half of the discount...
I told him straight up.... bullwinkle

My daughter in law pulled the trigger on a Bronco Sport this week, I got to see it tonight.

Right off I will admit I was impressed. I had stereotyped them in my mind as a cheap little chick-mobile, but it didn’t give off that vibe in person. No wonder I am seeing them everywhere. Interior was nicely done but very utilitarian in a pleasing Jeep like way. Much bigger inside than you would think and definitely more space and cargo than the previous generation Escape she replaced with it. I didn’t drive it but she said it was much quicker than the Escape as well (this also surprised me as it is the 3 cylinder 1.5).

It reminded me of my old XJ Cherokee but modernized, She loves it and I’m happy for her.

I’m extremely impressed with Ford and Bellingham Ford.

Too soon to judge the Transit 350 so I can save that for later

First time buying a Ford new or used

Ok I can have a major gripe. It took forever! Good thing we were not in a hurry. Walked in the dealership in
November ordered and accepted the price but no hold money needed. I guess 2020-23 some waits were near 2 years. See my thread for that saga.

Arrived Friday priced around $9k less we signed off on. The dealership applied all discount stuff they could. I know I know car deals but he said new orders will not get such discounts but who knows

Ford dealership all 1960s racing Ford dark stained wood vibe. Pretty retro cool. They are not held responsible for emistang.

Salesweenie was professional and finance guy efficient and accurate. No upsell. No credit check for full cash deal check as Honda dealer did.

Probably best car buying experience ever if I focus on yesterday

Wow......

My local Ford dealer is the worst
They are so bad they changed their name and a search reveals its the same losers.

On their lot or showroom you get zero cell coverage... even the salespeople have to use wifi unallowed to customers....think about that beauty....

I travel another 20 miles and that dealership is stellar

Ford dealer pricing was extended to July 7th and the dealers aren't telling anyone....
If I go about 15 miles to a PA dealer I save over $300 in doc fees and get better pricing . Md are ripping $800

It looks like MD is getting as bad as Virginia. My wife bought her 2018 Cherokee in Cockeysville and they destroyed the deal that our local Jeep dealer had in Colonial Heights, VA especially and they didn't charge much for the fees.
