Lets talk about new vehicles

My wife and I went to a softball tournament my grand-daughter was playing in. There was a 2 1/2 hour window between one of her games, so since we were in a city that had multiple car dealerships in a row along a major road, we decided to spend some time just looking at what my wife liked in the CUV market for when the time comes to replace the Frontier. We looked at a Nissan Rogue, Mazda CX-5, and a Honda CRV. We drove through the Ford dealership but there was nothing there that my wife was interested in. We didn't visit any Chevy/GMC dealers due to running out of time. We didn't test drive anything due to time restraints. Out of the three vehicles we looked at, the Rogue was here favorite of the three by far. She did like the CX-5. She was indifferent about the CRV. Next time we are near a Chevy/GMC dealership with some time to spare, I'll let her see if anything grabs her attention. I'm still surprised that the Rogue was her favorite. Me, I don't really care as long as any vehicle she picks out is reliable (CVT?) and easy to maintain, if that's even possible anymore.

Zee, just curious, do you like the Rogue? If so, any apprehensions about the Jatco CVT?

Sierra
Yes I do like the Rogue. A lady friend bought one and I was aware of the constant Nissan bashing and she bought it anyway.
I told her don't buy it- that was in 2017-18. ( It is a heavily used vehicle)

So far over 190K miles with no major issues at all. The CVT has been constantly improved and personally I think longevity these days
is about the same for all types. We used our fleet of GM trucks hard but it was routine for all them to go at about 70K miles. ( trans)
You hear a CVT blew up at that range of miles and its crap.

Early on yes they had issues. That brings the point I made about Mitsubishi- It is essentially a Rogue- the front end is far more aggressive
but the warranty is about double over the Rogue. Plus their are other differences and I had great luck with Mitsubishi and no CVT failures
in a combined 14 year ownership- 2x7 years..

If I go the Rogue route I will get the Mitsubishi because I have a local dealer I trust and the warranty and most likely a lower price
trim to trim. Worth looking into. Nissan this year as well as Mitsubishi have stepped up their game. Very nice rides.

Sorry if this was posted already - too many pages to read - Raiti seems to like it, but that third row is a joke. They should have just eliminated it and given you more cargo room instead.
Did it have enough Twizzler and Jolly Rancher space?
Also I wouldn't want my Twinkies crushed and have the cream filling going everywhere,

I liked my Rogue Select - I didn't my co-workers next gen rogue, The platform didn't have that Infinity feel - that carved from a block of steel feeling and a solid helm.

But also had Engine and Major brake issues, That thing ATE brakes and warped rotors at the drop of a rotor hat.
Trans was fine, fuel mileage abysmal.

Mitsu and Nissan use the same CVT vendor - JATCO.

Yes but subtle differences and different programming.
Mitsu used to supply a trans dipstick- I'll have to see if Nissan changed it over

You know me Jim, Ford, Toyota and anything made over 20 years or so ago. 🙂. Though I have heard good things about the Mitsubishi Outlander and my teacher from high school loves both of hers. Just make sure you don’t let a mechanic stick the spark plug in upside down like they did to hers. 🙂
Yeah I know. I will be keeping my Cmax.... My mpg has been crazy.
This was a bad day with a few 80 mph sweeps on I95...

I read here that Mazda's rusting issues have been resolved. Saw a low mileage 2019 cx5 that had heavy rusting underneath...

I don't have much experience with them. But I would look into it.

Then they were using plastic thermostat housings... And the filter is very easy to get to thanks to a small panel underneath.

That said if you are a every other time oil filter changer you may have to go the top extraction route.
Looks like you can't remove the drain plug without the oil stream hitting the filter..

The Outlander front end haters?
It sort of disappears if you pick a white one.

The eclipse cross uses dgi and port
Too bad Nissan's 2.5 doesn't..

If you look at it from the rear?

You really shouldn't go around scaring the small children in the neighborhood Zee.....

I don't think I'm a hater but it would definitely take me a while to make peace with that.
Come on KC don't be that guy....lol
Oh well I tried...
My attraction to Mitsubishi is not what you think. I had some real good times in one. I bought them for run arounds.
Im like the old VW bus dude with stickers all over it.
The best test drive I ever had was with a sales lady named Christine..
Might have to tell that one

I have to get into a 2022 Eclipse Cross and see what they did with it.

Your MPG figures are way too high. They need to be offset with something more down to earth to restore some balance in this thread. :)

This is probably one of my better results. :)
I will have to take a picture of the Caprice. 15.4 and since the 12,000 mile mark I have used about 2900 gallons of gas. The car keeps track.

Man you are a glutton for punishment seeking out the odd ducks in the corner.

I had an inspiring test drive of a 1995 Sonata Stick.
The dealer sent me out with their "secret weapon"
When we got in the car and I was wiggling the rubber knobbed shifter to find neutral,
I said, " That's a funny looking knob" and she just giggled.

One of those 5 beer stories ...

Like you I had most everything already
The old EC was too tight- looks like they used Ford seats
The GDI with port injection is better for me... Plus easy oil changes with 7317 filters for which I already have
The Cross mpg is disturbing but the 1.5L hasn't the Honda issues
