Lets talk about new vehicles

Known as the Baldwin bad-mouther here....
The VW filter # P40010 from Baldwin is made in Taiwan...
I prefer that to China any day.

@KCJeep
Read the other night VW seems to think 1 qt per 1000 miles is normal consumption.
Checked mine now at about 1500 miles
Nothing used and no gas smell at all.
Most of my short trips are 10-14 miles- so all is good.
BTW-the dipstick is as easy as pie- the first pull was killer now it is easy.

I've heard that and I believe other manufacturers spout the same nonsense too. Not sure why I'm not aware of any current VW model that has consumption issues. My 1.4 used maybe 4 ounces at most in the first 2.5k break in but the level hasn't budged since. If I wasn't an oil nut checking it regularly it would have been undetectable.

Now at 5k have never added any and level is not moving. I've even made peace with the 508 0w20! Had a hard time swallowing that at first.

VW seems to be the mpg king.
My 2L is by far the smoothest 4 cylinder I have ever had and that has been many. No weird noises either.
And it is cold here...
What I like is it feels and drives like a Buick V6 but with more guts.
No drinking oil is a big positive too.

My elcheapo premium gas station saves me money at the pump $3.42 a gallon but when i go there I lose 3 to 4 miles per gallon and I just don't feel the hp like I do on the Exxon 93 juice...so the no name 93 is out.

Sunoco is far better too at $3.89

VW typically errs on the humble side with published mpg, we see it over and over again from actual owners. They must be leery of overstated numbers.

It's a gorgeous car, feed it the good stuff. Even my Jetta gets nothing but name brand top tier premium. No Sunocos here, its the heart of 66 / ConocoPhillips territory. Others around of course but nothing like 66.

I sent my youngest son on the road with my 66 card and they got into Kentucky and couldn't find one. Not that far from here really but totally different, funny how that works.

That is not a bad looking car just don’t like the wheels on it. Are those stock wheels? They definitely failed there lol.

You should try the modern VW experience Blake.
That 2L non Buttigieg engine :D is quiet and crisp and clean....... no caffeine...
Smooth as silk and a rock n roller on TT 93 octane
On anything less, it is a lip noodle with a herkie jerky first gear. Highly neutered.

I fully understand the VW love fest.....
And the interior six weeks later still smells like mocha exotic brew. Intoxicating...
VW is the Audi you can't or don't want to afford.....

VW even makes a leisurely 0 to 60 sprint feel exotic.............

I just can’t bring myself to that Jim lol. I do want to get another Bug or bus though because I’m a little bit of a nerd for the old ones haha.
