I literally was getting a tour of my son’s Explorer 10 minutes ago. Has a lot going for it, which is why you see so many of them. Great at nothing, but good at a lot of things.

A bit expensive but for safety in crash tests they are amazing

One plus for the Explorer is that it is rear wheel drive with a longitudinal mounted engine.

If you get into used they are value priced (for he class). Nothing is a good deal right now that I can find anyway. Just outrageous, painful, and a bit less painful.

I think BMW/Mercedes started this nonsense. I'm still ticked about the disappearance of transmission dipsticks. I used to do suction transmission services all the time, cheap and easy.

Alfa Romeo's don't have an oil dipstick either and there are many threads on the forums about how to read the electronic one and navigate it's delayed and bogus readings. Some improvement.

You can throw out the Jeep Cherokee and Broco Sport. Those are two that I wouldn't even consider. The Ford Escape is a much better vehicle than the Bronco Sport. It has more passenger space and more cargo space. I have no idea what Ford was thinking when they introduced that monstrosity.

We didn't opt for all of that fancy stuff in ours. We also didn't get all of the options on our Escape. I find that moon roofs and large infotainment screens are turn offs.

I end up with them sometimes but not on purpose... I never use a moon roof..

My last three new cars had a glass roof. I did not want them but in order to get the options I wanted I had to go that route. I miss the day when you could custom order a car.
