Lets talk about new vehicles

Highly suspect.

I agree the Malibu is a great looking sedan but that’s pretty much where it ends.
Believe it or not last year's Trax had a great reliability score

That's what past experiences bring. One plus is it would be an inexpensive disaster 😕
Alex on Autos or some other YT jockey hinted that the steering feel was not too good on the Trax and that the Equinox was a better car. Somtimes these comment are not applicable broad brush as issues can be unit specific or alignment related.

With the Equinox you get a bigger turbo engine with one more cylinder that sounds pretty good. I tried to talk the wife into and Equinox dring the epidemic but she is a Subaru girl now for life I guess :)

I suppose the Chevrolet Equinox has an upper-middle, cul-de-sac, Karen vibe to it that does not say "adventure" and "activity" - though it's perfectly capable I would guess.

The 1.5T 4 cyl. engine sounds sporty, it's peppy enough for normal driving -

The Equinox has a checkered past and that is the way I looked at it. Is it still ? No idea yet.

Recently bought a lightly used SUV (2018) Primary criteria was comfortable seat for my wifes bad back. While we ended up buying a Lexus RX 350 we both thought the Explorer had the best seats available.
I like the Explorer's look...
But have the issues been resolved. Of course everything has issues

The base model Trax - no idea if you can find one - is $21,500 + TTT an shipping and whatever the dealer adds I presume.

For that money your likely going to find a 4 year old Civic or Corolla with 50K miles, or maybe a 7 year old Camry. Or something with really high miles. If you know nothing about cars, thats a scary proposition.

For someone just looking for a way to work for the next 4 or 5 years, they fit a purpose. Kia/Hyundai fit the same model, and they get a lot of flack around here, but realize that by the time there not working - most have already filled there role as a disposable car to use for a handful of years.

And yes, for another 6 to 8K you can buy something worth owning, but for someone making $50K per year, that money likely has better uses.

I wish there were more options like the Trax. Maybe more people would realize they didn't need to sell there sole for 96 easy payments in order to get around.

We only sat in it because we were at Carmax and it was unlocked...the seats were awesome. But i refuse to buy a turbo, would have another Ford in my driveway if they offered a NA 3.5.

My local dealer had 10 new Trax in today...all colors and trims. I just rode through the lot. I will test drive one soon as I get my chomper fixed..lol

They had one new Mitsubishi Sport...seems like very few of them come in.

No GM love on here including yours truly. That said GM is doing what Ford couldn't.

The new Trax around here is already everywhere. In the three states I visit daily they are the new world vehicle ..

Ford still can't get the Maverick up to speed and I suppose they never will. A sad affair because you would have seen one in every driveway if they could have.

Screwing up their own success has always been "Job One" at Ford. GM for the win like it or not.
