Lets talk about Bourbon

Got this last weekend. Had some last night it’s ok but nothing to write home about

I hear it is more expensive in TX but not positive on that. I got mine from Caskers, so it cost more with shipping.
I would not be surprised. I have seen the bottled in bond Old Forester locally but not this King Ranch version. I also had a pour of the 1924 a few weeks back. It is very good but above my price point to buy an entire bottle.

I've only ever had the blue bottle Single Barrel - Barrel Strength. I still have one of those bottles. I thought it was good but didn't WOW me.

I think that is nearly $100. Our local chain is Specs. They had the King Ranch and quite a few others but a bit above my budget.

This bottle of Woodford was beautiful.

Don't quote me but I think I paid $80 for the barrel select. I bought 2 (I usually do with stuff like this due to price). I think I paid $77 for the King Ranch but then $20 for shipping. I just wanted to try it and it wasn't too bad a price. Can't say when I will get to open it though. Have a bunch of others to get through first.

I'm on a roll. Or, I just have issues. Picked these up today. This will be the "oldest" Booker's I have had. Old as in oldest release. I think my second oldest is a 2022-01

Been looking for this for a little while but now where close had it. Stopped at Bottle King on my way to Kohls and they had it. Website doesn't list any Bookers at all. Good thing I stopped in.

First time with Horse Soldier Reserve. 61%, 122 proof. It’s definitely not “bad”, but it just doesn’t get my taste buds excited for the next sip like just about any Old Forester (especially the barrel proof series) does!

My uncle says anybody who drinks bourbon without a splash of water at a minimum is just trying to impress his friends. To that, I say the most enjoyable times I’ve ever had drinking alone were with a fresh bottle of barrel-proof bourbon and an empty glass, neat! 😂

Dang, Wheel. Save some for the rest of us, hah!

My parents had a handle of Makers 46 delivered to me along with a mini-keg of beer for my birthday. That stuff is strong. Have not tried the cask strength.
