Lets talk about Bourbon

I didn't actually get this yet and we'll have to see if it arrives, but I ordered a bottle of Stagg Jr Batch 15. Now, just looking for a 12, an 8 and 7. Maybe a 13 too. This makes 14-18 plus some 22, 23 batches and all the 24 batches. Still haven't opened a single one yet. Soon, I swear!

Picked this up yesterday, time to try it!!

Yellowstone TV show tie in, Taylor Sheridan, and the 6666 ranch:

I recently tried (on a whim) the $34 Four Sixes (6666) Quahadi-Tribute whiskey. Initially I thought it was acceptable and smooth. However, after finishing a glass, I came to understand that it's aftertaste is not as pleasant as other similarly priced whiskeys.

Note: Quahadi from the 6666 ranch, either refers to a stallion they have for sale or maybe the Indian Tribe of the same name, part of the Comanche Indians and their location.

Thanks for taking one for the team. :) Not sure if it's the same exact version, but the label I found online says "Contains no grain neutral spirits." What exactly does this mean? Is it not really whiskey? Some reviewers noted it's sweet like brandy.

In this price range, which other whiskeys do you like better?

Bowman Brothers, Small Batch. Made in VA. Yum.

From Grok3:

"When the label states "contains no grain neutral spirits," it means this whiskey is crafted entirely from a fermented grain mash (likely a mix of grains like corn, rye, or barley) that has been distilled and aged, without the addition of neutral alcohol to dilute or stretch the product. In other words, all the alcohol in the bottle comes from the whiskey distillation process itself"

I'm drinking some right now. It could be really good. Grok3 says probably too many tannins that remain after the initial sweetness

So, it turns out that I am not getting this. It isn't the first time a product has popped up and said it is in stock and available to ship to NJ. But I got an email this morning that the retailer "ran out of this particular batch". They asked me if I wanted the new batch that was coming out for the same price. I told them no. I'm not going to pay what I paid for a new batch. I only paid what I paid cause it is a highly sought after batch. I also mentioned to them that it is still for sale on their website...

Well ,picked up the scotch earlier(previous post) and I noticed this on the shelf so I stopped back in today and picked it up.

Nice. I got myself one of those (and a coworker too who was leaving). Haven't had any of the 2024-xx yet. I have all 4 sitting downstairs patiently waiting...

Have you had Bookers? It was one of the first Bourbons I liked.

Nope, never had any of the Bookers. More into scotch but son in law is slowly trying to change my taste in whiskeys:ROFLMAO: but I still prefer scotch. Most likely will try this weekend when we play cards. I had Makers, Wellers and of course the Pappy's that he bought a few years back and it was good, but they were just a little too sweet for my taste. Hey, No guts no glory!! Have to at least try them.

In the 1980's Bowman produced a bourbon product named Virginia Gentleman. It was inexpensive. As a young adult then, our neighbors partied with it. At that time, Bowman was importing barrels of vodka from Russia and selling it as Bowman's vodka. Both the times and our tastes are a changing.

I'm more into scotch also. Bookers will put some hair on your chest! In my case, I was hoping it would take some off, but alas, it didn't! I have had Makers. Haven't had Weller or Pappy.

They’re all good. Go back to post 180 in this thread about the Pappy’s. I think it’s very sweet I posted about it few yrs ago. SIL Got some. I will stick to my scotch Still can’t beat scotch in my book. But I will try any flavor once or twice or whatever comes my way.

What's your preferred scotch? For my everyday, it is Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie. My higher end would be Octomore but lately, the X.2s haven't been wowing me due to the wine casks. The .1s and .3s are more my jam. Dig Port Charlotte too.

Everyday would be Glenlivett 15 or Lagavulin 16. Agree on the Octmore. Guess my higher end treat would be Glenfiddich 18 small batch

In fact I am having the 18 now while smoking a Davidiff Millenium on the back porch. Good pairing!

I had/have Stagg and I thought that was wicked and unrefined. Hope Bookers isn’t that way. Otherwise it stays on shelf or will give to son in law

So jealous! I wish I outside smoking a stogie. I haven't had the Glenlivett 15 or the Fiddich 18. I have had the Lagavulin 16. As a matter of fact, wife got me one for Valentine's Day. Haven't had a Davidoff in years. I bought a few Yamasa some years ago and I didn't dig it. I wanna try the Escurio.

Bought myself a box of the new Fuente and Padron Legends about a month and a half ago. Still recovering from that purchase!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your scotch and smoke!

I have only had 2 Stagg batches. 16 and I forget the other one. I liked them both, which is why I have been buying them when I find them. I just wish I had the hookup to get them at MSRP. The best price I got was $125.
