I'm not a VW expert, but this sharp looking Beetle is a '68ish?
It doesn't look like a post '74 Super Beetle 🤔
‘74-‘77

First year of those giant taillights was ‘73. But those bumper brackets are actually shock absorbers, they got them in ‘74 for crash tests.

And to back up, ‘70 had two sets of vents on the engine cover. ‘71 was the same, except it had air intakes behind the back windows (like this one). ‘72 was the same but had 4 sets of vents on the engine cover (like this one).

After months of restoration with a total cost of $2500, I drove it for 2 years and then sold it for $3400. It was a great car! I replaced it with the Subaru below which I paid $2000 plus a few hundred in repairs. It has been my DD since Feb/22 and still going strong.

Parents 92-93 Grand Voyager in 2000. Rear ended at over 40. They said flippped it on the side and it spun like a top. I was living in TX at the time, first time I've seen this picture. Dad said he had a bunch of nails in the back, tire repairs went through the roof since this happened on the main drag through town.

I hope they were okay after?
That era Chrysler minivan was notorious for seat track failures and tailgates popping open, sending the easy roll out rear benches onto the pavement, with the child seat still strapped to it 😔
People older than myself would probably remember it better

Yeah for the most part. Think dad socked mom in the nose when they were spinning was about it. Interesting didn't know that. I always set in the back so would of been me if it ever happened.

Decided to add another car to the fleet today. 1994 Toyota Camry LE automatic. 2.2 liter. It was actually gifted to me for my birthday so you can’t beat free. It was going to go to the crusher otherwise. They asked if I would like to have it and since it was my birthday tomorrow they said they didn’t need anything for it. I said yes I would love to have that. They handed me two keys, title, bill of sale and I was on my way. This has really turned out to be the best birthday I’ve ever had in awhile.

Happy Early Birthday Blake. Nice car.

By the shore on a nice day. Don't think I ever posted the Boxster S before. In 2013 or so I had sold two cars and a friend who is a finance guy w/ a dealer group (the chief bean counter, not the sell you paint protection 'finance' guy) calls out of the blue and says 'we took a trade in, and I am holding it for you'. Too bad I wasn't looking for a car, but I trust him and after a few pics, it was on the way to me...plus he had no space otherwise I never would have heard about the car.

Boxsters are still one of the best values in sports cars, but the days of ~40K mile absolute minty Boxster S's for $11K are long gone...
