Lesson learned; PLEASE check your credit card statements!

I’ve got that same card and I would recommend installing the Citi banking app. I set up notifications for anything over $0.01 so I get notified of every CC transaction, it will also notify for online or international purchases. You can set the limit to whatever you want to reduce the amount of notifications.

It helps greatly with tracking my CC transactions and you can do it live on the app, instead of waiting for the monthly statement.

Now ya tell me... Ha!

I have been matching my statements to slips ever since my first card. I also reconcile my bank accounts religiously. I do not use debit cards and prefer to use old fashioned cash.

My Costco Citi Exec card is on auto-pay; admittedly I just let 'er rip. This is perhaps common in today's automated world. I use it for just about everything so I get a big fat annual rebate...

A few days back I glanced at my statement and noticed FasTrack for $305. FasTrack is CA service for bridge tolls, Lexus lanes, etc. I travel across the GG Bridge about twice a month, so that's $20 or so. $305 is a lotta bridge crossings! So I did a little more review and found $305 almost every month for at least a year and a half. The lowest was about $180. Close to $5K in what I looked at.

I checked my FasTrack account; it had my cars and transactions. Sure enough, generally 2 GG crossings per month, but nothing more. This is to our home in beautiful Petaluma (American Grafitti). And the billing goes to my bank account, not the Citi credit card; it is not associated with FasTrak.

FasTrak rep told me that credit card was associated with another FasTrak account, not mine. But he wouldn't tell me who; that was against policy. He would not let me stop the monthly billing charges! Against policy, but he would send the other account "a note". I cancelled my Citi card and they will send me another.

Turns out a few years back I bought and fixed up a 1998 Camry 4 banger for a needy family. The father died unexpectly; his brother took the car, even though it was meant for the Mother and 3 kids. So it's been flying on the Lexus lanes and bridges on my dime. Sheesh.

I will likely be credited; Citi has been phenominal. It is being treated as fraud. Not done yet. So I feel kinda stupid. Please review your statements. Stuff happens.
Just saw this, Jeff.

Based upon my experiences with Fastrak, you should be able to easily add or remove vehicles from your account.

It's simple, so I have to believe Fastrak gave you bad info.

BTW I only use my Costco CITI Card, as there is excellent fraud protection as well as the rebates.

My dad sold a car back in the late 80s when we lived in the Houston suburbs, that the people never transferred the title on, and the vehicle was later used in the commission of a serious crime where someone was shot. I was living at home at the time going to juco and one night the cops showed up at our house, much to my Dad's surprise. Lesson learned. I make people meet me at the county tax office to transfer the title, when I have privately sold vehicles.

It's crazy what you have to watch out for. My $60 go fund me charge for an all-inclusive restaurant deal turned into a $6,000 go fund me charge. Discover card corrected the problem but it wasn't as easy as it should have been as go fund me has a virtual office and no phone number. The previous week Discover declined a $10 charge at a Wendy's as I'd never dined there.

Yes, this is at least partly a problem with the FasTrak service. The car title was changed and I entered a release of ownership. I know who I gave the car to. I even have an email string with FasTrak when several charges came back to me.

The man unexpectedly died and his family took the car. I believe I have the name of the current owner.
The car is under another person's FasTrak account; his account bills to my credit card. That's the rub, aka fraud.

There are 2 Bozos here, FasTrak and me. We each made mistakes.
Yeah but fastrack won’t help you though you’re paying the bill. That’s pretty lousy.

This car has never been on my FasTrak account. My card is on someone else's account. But we are making progress. Citi has been awesome-sauce.

Kinda backwards when it is my credit card, have no idea who the FasTrak account holder is, and they won't take the card off...
And that's as nice as I can put it.

But I have a hand in this fiasco as well. Plenty of blame to go around, except for Citi. Good thing someone is minding the store! Ha!

I should have known you would have already done this if possible. I have talked to Fastrak on the phone and come to the conclusion that online DIY is the way.

And Petaluma, downtown near the river, countryside, all of West Sonoma County for that matter, is gorgeous, yessir.

I think the answer is you could make close to $140,000 if you invested a billion bucks for one day at 5% per annum, either that or my calculator is broken: 1,000,000,000 * 0.05 / 365

Not you calculator....my feeble walnut.
Yeah.....the heck was I not thinking?
$140k in 24 hours would be solid gold for most but to these tycoons probably not much.

I have a Visa from Amazon that I only use for Amazon transactions. I was being billed monthly for my Prime membership, but then I also was billed an annual lump sum. They wouldn’t tell me exactly who or how, but someone was using my card for their Prime membership too.
