Lemon 2023 Nissan Frontier

I periodically go online to read TSB’s for my ‘24 Silverado. Sometimes you see ones like “Crack in Cab Roof Under Rubber Moulding” due to bad weld at factory. The solution is for dealer to weld, sand, paint that section of roof. My reaction is always “sorry for whatever poor schlameile got one of those trucks”. I mean, 60k for a truck and you’re having it manually welded, sanded and painted. Whats even crazier to me is when there are TSBs that have run since the trucks inception in like 2019 that they just keep adding successive model years to. Its like they know theres a problem and just dont want to spend time or money to fix it. The most infamous one of these that comes to mind is the wax frame coating coming off and causing rust. That TSB was around when I bought my first new 04, my new 13, and now my new 24. Same exact pictures and everything. The noisey leaf springs is another.

Unless it is a safety issue, that is actually pretty common in a lot of industries when there is not always going to be a issue on every example made and it is cheaper to handle it through attrition or offer item specific extended warranties.

I think it is stupid but I see it at my work also that it is cheaper to continue status quo than address root cause and fix.

They really make that kind of profit? How many Altimas and Sentras are they selling these days?

Yeah technically they made 3.9 Billion in profit. My 30k truck would be like us loosing a penny. My truck has had a frame on order for 31 days now not counting the 3 they spent rebuilding it on the second frame. At some point they are spending more to fix this one than it costs them to give me a new one

@Mathew_Boss was the botched weld passenger side?

I seriously want to start looking at new Frontiers now. I might get backed over in a parking lot.....

Huh, well, glad you are being made somewhat whole in this cluster of a situation. Good luck on the next vehicle.

Well let us know how the new truck goes.

Have you looked at a new Ranger?

Colorado seems like a nice truck.
We have test drove 12 different trucks. The Canyon/Colorado and 1500 Ram were our top favorites. It would be my wife's daily driver so she has to feel comfortable with it in school pickup lines and so on. Either way them seem like good options. We really disliked the ranger but we're very impressed with the Maverick

Those are all going to be big upgrades (maybe not the RAM, you could be back in a similar situation).

I will say: when O'Reilly pulled up yesterday in a black Frontier I really wanted to ask if I could take a quick peek at the frame.....
Black Frontier? I’ve never seen a black O’Reilly fleet vehicle. They’re always white!
