So my GF and I have received texts about unpaid tolls and fines coming. I got one that included the state and 2 others that didn’t include the state. Anybody else receiving them?
Also she just got one of the PayPal scam emails. It looked very real. She doesn’t have a PP account.

9 news in Colorado just had a video about that. Student loan scams are getting common now as well. I just paid the last of my student loans off last month.

Oh, it gets better.
Now with AI voice, you can get a call from someone that sounds EXACTLY as a relative that ask you for money under some sort of false pretense.
Such as "Please, I'm in jail and need bail money".
My neighbor fell for that one in an email scam, but now it can be the actual voice!

We need to disconnect the 3rd world from our communications networks. Easier said than done.

AI voice cloning will make it harder to sus these miscreants out. The big give away is usually an east indian accent. Not for long!

Just got one with a header from a local bank “You authorized payment of $1,132.69” click here to cancel.” The link was an unknown account so they were phishing.

Got a $820. check to a business fished out of a mail box last year. Had to file a police report but the bank made good on it. Now ai only mail checks at a post office.

And I only mail them in the lobby/building. If I make the effort to drive to the PO, I take the extra 50 steps to walk inside the building and drop my mail inside.

The local PO used to have two outdoor boxes, one a drive-up, and one next to the lobby entrance - it's an older building so I guess this was their solution for not being able to offer 24-hour lobby access. When keys were being stolen from the mail carriers, they replaced the drive-up box with a different design, and removed the one next to the lobby entrance completely.

I received a text like this and they even used the word "UR" instead of "you're"

A lot of those e-mails are going into my spam folder so I don't know how many I'm getting.

An interesting thing, though, is that I've received texts about a SunPass account (on my IL phone number), and an acquaintance in Florida with a FL number is getting texts about an I-Pass account.

I got one about the Sunpass also. I don’t live in Florida but I happened to be in Fl when I received it. Got another one today.

In all seriousness make sure someone didn't put your license plate information or name into somethingby accident. A few years ago I received a parking ticket in the mail for an area that I hadn't been to in over a year. The person typed 1 digit off off which was my plate. The vehicle in the picture was a bmw x5 with the plate visible.
