So my GF and I have received texts about unpaid tolls and fines coming. I got one that included the state and 2 others that didn’t include the state. Anybody else receiving them?
Also she just got one of the PayPal scam emails. It looked very real. She doesn’t have a PP account.

I got a text the other day claiming to be one of my adult children asking me for money. Even called me Dad to make it seem official. Glad I shut that down!

edit: just in case it's not clear, it's just a joke.

there is also the "you missed jury duty and must pay a fine immediately or else the sheriff is on his way to arrest you" scam. My son is on grand jury duty and they emphasized this scam to all the jurors.

I got 19 paypal emails in one day. and probably 20 of the toll texts so far.. just be smart.. and realize these places dont text you. and check the email address you got the email from.

That usually defeats 95%

A lot of those e-mails are going into my spam folder so I don't know how many I'm getting.

An interesting thing, though, is that I've received texts about a SunPass account (on my IL phone number), and an acquaintance in Florida with a FL number is getting texts about an I-Pass account.

A couple months ago I got a call from a local phone number, two guys claiming to be from the COUNTY Sheriff dept. contacting residents who had not shown up for a FEDERAL court jury summons - six months prior. They alleged that my failure to show up had resulted in a trial being delayed and extra legal expenses etc. etc. After reading off an ominous list of penalties they asked if I understood everything they had conveyed and I said no there was a whole bunch about the whole situation I didn't understand, starting with why they couldn't tell me what floor and room number in the courthouse where they were located. Both Kansas and Missouri Law enforcement have warned about the scams in the news media.

Here is an oldie but goodie I got it a few months ago coming from Belgium, but postmarked from Alabama. What possibly could be wrong with that?

Even if it weren't a scam its dripping with creepiness! "I know you aren't even related..." "All legal documents to back up the claim as my late clients beneficiary..."

Guy is telling you directly that he is scum bag for 50% of the haul!

We did a road trip a week ago and on that trip I received 3 of the Easy Pass and Suntoll scam texts. Delete.

Texts, calls, nonstop.

My wife got the Paypal scam email yesterday. At first it looks pretty authentic but it's from some gmail address. And my wife doesn't have paypal.

Oh, it gets better.
Now with AI voice, you can get a call from someone that sounds EXACTLY as a relative that ask you for money under some sort of false pretense.
Such as "Please, I'm in jail and need bail money".
My neighbor fell for that one in an email scam, but now it can be the actual voice!
