Did some searching and came up mostly with discussions from 2012. Is there a current source for Napa synthetic PDSs? Is what they're currently selling on this super sale SN Plus rated?

I couldn't find any pds either and Valvoline's online "ask a question" form apparently is not working. I did get a jug when the sale started tho, and it's SN plus and d1G2

Interesting....my jug is dex 1 gen 2, but only rated SN...

Wonder how close this is the Valvoline advance.....

Based on the info I've found on bitog - same base stock, different additives but both perform extremely well.

Advance? I'd guess synpower or a slightly downgraded add pack, not their flagship stuff.

I'm curious too because just last week I was told that Valvoline changed their formula, moving away from their sodium additive and went to a moly (something that I always wondered when/if they were going yo change). So I'm wondering if Napa received the same formula...be nice if they had.

Just for the sake of having a photo on the thread

Just for reference, sodium and moly are not interchangeable. The former is part of the detergent package and the latter is a friction modifier.

Another possibility here in your area could be... Sunoco Ultra full synthetic oil. It is made by Valvoline has well. And Petroleum Service company has it for a good price. Being you are so close to PSC... Shipping would not be as much as it is for me. It's 14 dollars for my area. Even with that it comes out to right around $4 a quart. In your area it likely could be as low as $3.25-3.50 a quart.

Viscosities are a littte different also. Points to being a different base oil.
Seriously, how many here really expected the exact formula in both brands - yet NAPA costing so much less?
If you were, get a check of business reality please.

If you own a factory that makes Valvoline oil and others, it crosses your mind that it may be easier to simply use the same formula and rebadge the label rather than go through the porocess of making a whole new oil. That's been the argument in the past. Or that some or not as much addditives were added to the NAPA oil. Both arguments makes sense. Think about this...most Valvoline loyal customers aren't even looking at NAPA labels or considering their purchase. And most people who buy oil don't know or really care what goes into an oil, just if it meets specs and is on sale. So for a vast majority of customers this is something they don't know or care about.

I had no such expectation, but pds should be the source of truth for this stuff...

It's not clear to me if the ones linked on this thread are stale... some say 2017...

noacks above 10 are not good but below is surely better. surprised for the 10-30 + 15-50 specs, lower quality + cheaper group III fake synthetic is my guess

Does it cross your mind it's a generic PDS?

The link for pds is from Valvoline this year. I sent email to Valvoline. He even stated different base oil for Napa was different.
