Last car equipped with an ashtray?

The first car without an ashtray was the 1995 Cirrus and Stratus.

Toyota still forces you to pay for a port installed ashtray out here on the west coast, along with their rear bumper "applique" and other useless crap 🤬

I believe my '65 Chrysler had twin ashtrays and lighters in a pull out tray lower dash. Also 3 back seat ashtrays.

Newest car I owned that had factory equipped ashtray and lighter was a 2001 Nissan. Pretty sure that an '08 Silverado I owned had an ashtray. Had to buy a lighter element for the socket.

The conversation about tire inflators got me to thinking about what is now called the “12v power outlet” but was always known to us older folks as the “cigarette lighter socket.” That got me to thinking about how long it’s been since a vehicle has left the factory with an actual lighter element installed in the socket, and that made me wonder if anyone is still producing vehicles with an actual ashtray. The last vehicle I can definitively remember owning with one was my 87 Toyota.

When did the ashtray go away?
My 1997 Geo had a cigarette lighter and ash tray. I know certain luxury vehicles had "smokers packages" into the mid 2000s.

If you didn't need to use the ash tray, it also had a little raised handle, and could be slid back into the void, and Voila! you now have a (square) cupholder for the Drivers Seat.
but you could have a Cupholder OR an Ashtray at any given time. not both.
I always thought that was a great feature. The little square cupholder held a 12-ounce can perfectly, and you could close the lid when you didn't have a can there so it all looked nice and neat.

Only our 2006 has them, as well as not just one but 2 lighters and 3 sockets. Come to think of it 2007 and 2011 don't. But they should come back, right? People smoke a lot more now, not the drivers, but the passengers. Or, it's not legal for the driver, but let's face it with the 5% tints lots of cars are right out of Cheech and Chong

The 2015 Ram 1500 I had for a while had the optional smoker’s package. And the guy who bought it new used that package a lot!

It took a while to get the smoke stink and filth behind the dash (which included a ton of road dust) out if the truck. But I did get it fumigated eventually.

My 2010 Hyndai Genesis Coupe came with a cupholder removable ashtray and a lighter in one of the power sockets.

I wasn’t sure so I checked my dad’s 98 K1500 and discovered it has an ashtray and two extra power outlets that have been hiding behind what I thought were contoured trim pieces all these years…turns out they fold down to reveal two extra sockets.

Oh, the memories. Ashtrays in the back of the bench seat and in, fancier cars, ashtrays in the arm rests on back doors. My parents didn't smoke so the ashtrays were filled up with gum wrappers.

I added a back up camera to my 2007 Grand Cherokee and the screen attached to the dash is powered through the "cigarette lighter" outlet.
