Large debris found in factory oil filter, now what?

That's why, again, we dump first change early. Always have, but others don't agree.

I cut open the factory oil filter on our Mazda CX-5 at 2,300 miles. Super clean. I was expecting some tiny little things, but it was remarkably clean. Have had others that had a lot.

Cut open the next filter. Probably looks fine.
I did cut open the 2nd filter, there was much smaller debris in it but didn't look fantastic to be honest, I can post pictures later.

I do have a clean sample from the factory fill taken midstream that I could send off. Perhaps it would show very elevated levels of debris?

Given the recalls they are having to do with the Tundra engines because of machining debris, it might be worthwhile letting Toyota corporate know that there may be other motors running into issues. I’d just email it to their customer service folks as a heads up.

did you find glitter in the drained oil?
It is hard to tell what was in the pan. Like I said I do have a mid stream half quart sample. I’ll shake it up and pour some out and look at it under lighting.

Would there be more glitter at the beginning middle or end of a hot drain?
