Oh tonight was a doozy. I ordered a burger with cheddar cheese and toppings and chocolate cake from Uber Eats at what I thought was a new burger restaurant. Apparently Buffalo Wild wings uses different names for different restaurants. I ordered No onions or American Cheese as they are terrible toppings. Apparently Uber eats sends a guy to my house that speaks zero English. I had to use Google Translate to figure out that I apparently "Ya ne govoryu po-ruski." In English or I don't speak Russian (I wish I did what a funky language. ). All I got from him was "No cake." I tried to explain to him that "Noy zakaz napravil'nyy." Or my order is wrong. Then he left. Thankfully the person on the phone from Uber eats spoke and UNDERSTOOD English even though I'm fairly sure the call center is in Mumbai. She escalated the situation to her bosscand cancelled my drivers ability to deliver orders.

What's the world coming to having a burger delivered? You never know who's going to show up and if you do not like the possibility of a non English speaking delivery person delivering your grub, go pick it up yourself.
BTW- it's not the delivery person's fault that your order got screwed up.

+1.

The fewer people that ring my doorbell the better. Not to mention the fewer people who handle my food, the better. Especially these days. I won't even get a pizza delivered today.

(The scene from "Casino" where Joe Pesci's brother spits into the cops "free" sandwich, comes to mind).

My wife wanted to know if I can drive my son to and from school because he has his instrument today. We are a world already where kids are taught to do nothing for themselves. My wife and I see things differently as she was born into the upper class. I was not. My point is there are folks out there who do in fact believe a burger should be delivered and the order should be right, and if not, the driver should be fired. I'm not one of those people, but I can tell you having attended soirees in Manhattan when I first me my wife, there are some really high class people in this world who demand they are treated as such. I could tell some stories like when I offered scotch and shrimp cocktail to a driver, I wasn't supposed to do that.

Reminds me of when I was in MS for work, one of the only chain restaurants was Outback. I ordered a takeaway steak, cost like $40, and was not even rare, less.

I didn’t complain it was a long enough wait to get the meal. I went to my room and microwaved it making it even worse.

The next night my coworkers said they found a great place in town and we went there 3 days in a row. This was Meridian MS.

I readily admit never ordered cake for delivery before.

We have zero delivery of food here. Some claim they will but then nope.

One time my wife did one of the 3rd party delivery companies for cat litter from the store (too heavy for her at the store, I wasn't there). They took the money for the goods, dude's charge............only then NOPE. Took her a long time and much hassle and I think she never got all the money back.

I can give you some hints of eating in the South.

If its a chain, your in the wrong place.
If the parking lot isn't full of working class pickup trucks, your in the wrong place.
If you open the door and its not full of families and workers still wearing there work clothes, your in the wrong place.
If they take credit cards - well you used to be in the wrong place. Thats getting better, but the cc machine will either be one of those things attached to a cell phone, or will sound like a 14.4 baud modem.

If they do uber eats, your definitely in the wrong place.

Trust me.

I remember when Domino's was starting out, and they offered 30 minute delivery or it was free. Their delivery drivers were getting into wrecks left and right, and getting too many speeding tickets. They finally got sued over it, and that got them a bunch of negative press, so they cut it out.

What?!. I don't even know what happened here, the restaurant was out of cake? The Guy delivered your Burger o.k.? And he told you there was no cake. Why is that HIS fault?
Read like the restaurant's "fault". Did you get charged for the cake? If so, that is the only issue I see that required resolving. I Hope you gave a delivery tip.

I just contacted a partial roof replacement from a local roofing company one town over. Tuesday who comes? Five little guys pile out of a big utility truck. Zero english. They were unsure what part of roof was suppose to be done. Got their boss on a cellphone who spoke some english; he relayed the correct instructions.

Guys went to work. Did an absolutely fantastic job. I went to DD (a business I have come to despise) and bought them all bagel lunch sandwichs and coffee and various soda pop for 50 bucks.
You may have to revisit and reset your expectations

I walked 2 and 1/2 miles to school with my Selmer Bundy alto Sax.

Is he learning a Euphonium or Tuba? - Ken

You not only didn't tip the driver but also cost the livelihood of someone who is not involved in your order accuracy. Blaming the wrong person, why didn't you call BW3-s instead?

Wow!
