I've been lurking here for decades, and have been searching without any real luck.
I have an Evo IV that I recently picked up, and am looking for oil advice. The shop manual simply says to use a SG-rated ILSAC oil Nothing about viscosity at all.
I want to use Amsoil, and I was leaning toward the Signature Series 0w40. The car isn't driven a ton, but it will be driven hard when in use. Amsoil themselves don't really have a recommendation other than to possibly use the Signature Series oil.
I just wanted to reach out here to make sure that I'm not making a huge mistake by running it.

Amsoil is good but any off the shelf euro 30/40 will be plenty good. More importantly let it warm up since anti wear additives like to be above 170f to work effectively for the most part but some can activate a bit under or over that but water temp doesn't equal oil temp and the oil heats up a bit later. I'd drive at least 20 minutes maybe more. I wouldn't idle it that puts fuel in the oil. I was also going to say welcome to bitog since I see it's your first post but you made the account almost 12 years ago 😁 but better late than never.

Welcome to Bitog.

Thank you! I never have needed to post, I can usually find everything through search :)

I wondered about Euro as well, they seem to have different specifications listed, so I was wondering if those would work as well.

Nice ride. The old school sport compact car. I had the first gen 2003 SRT-4 until I got rear ended at 40-50mph. I miss the car.
