Moving into the house. Been trying for 3 days to get the floor cleaned up nice. It seems that the cleaning people put something on the floor that makes it look aweful. I don't know if it's some kind of wax product or the cleaner they used but it sucks.

There is an area under some carpet they laid down in the entrance way that looks SUPER, but you can see the marks where the mop was and where the carpet is. Under the carpet it looks as it should.

Hard Telling what they did. I just don't understand why idiots don't leave well enough alone.

My last step is to go back to the floor place to ask them what to do.

So far I've tried windex (suggested by the floor place) and vinegar and water (suggested by the floor place) I'm at a loss.

These are not "hardwood" floors, they are laminate, and though they look real they are not.

Jeez. just have to vent.

From Armstrong FAQ:

# Do not use soap-based detergents or "mop and shine" products, as these may leave a dull film on your floor.

# Do not wax or polish your floor.

Dull Film. This is what I have. all over except where that carpet was.

"Orange Glo" - Hardwood Floor Cleaner

Yes, I know, it says "hardwood" but is for sealed floors. It can be found on the Swiffer isle at Walmart. Green bottle. We have Laminate flooring in three rooms of our home (and a 4 year old and 2 big dogs) and this product works really well.

Thanks for the suggestions. Right now, I'm in the middle of moving as I have to be out of my apartment by friday. I will try some of the tips.

I did try and spray a little Amsoil MP on a piece of the floor, then hit it with a clean up with Windex and that worked. I don't know if I want to spray MP all over though!

We've got Armstrong laminate flooring in the kitchen/dining rm/hallway. Armstrong laminate floor cleaner will clean and take the haze away. A light amount of Murphy's Oil Soap in water does a good haze free job as well.

Get the person who screwed it up to come and fix it.
If you screw it up now, you have no place to turn.
I don't understand why you are trying to fix their mistake ??

I'm just ready to get moved in. Asking the idiot what the cleaning person put on the floor is like asking someone what they ate last year. I'm sure everyone will deny it, and you will never get a straight answer.

My guess is they put some type of wax or floor sealer down thinking it's hardwood (it looks really close) but of coarse it's not.
