We have the 26hp courage in a craftsman rider. I switched to supertech Full Synthetic 10w30'after running Dino for the first 75 hours. Consumption and start up puff of smoke have completely disappeared as a result. 210 hours on it now. Should I continue this routine or will rotella t5 10w30 or t6 5w40 be better? Or something else? Thanks

We are in the northeast so temps vary a bit but it does get hot in the summer
Supertech 10w30 Syn isnt bad oil, but from my experience Kohlers like heavier oil.
Rotella T6 seems to work very well in the V-Twins. The T5 would work well too. These engines aren't terribly picky about oil, whatever seems to last longest without going black or burning off is fine.

Manual calls for 10w30 but I think 5w30 is acceptable too. The t6 would make the most sense for me. Will the 40 have any effect on engine temp?
My Dad has the same engine in his Cub Cadet.
he's always used basic Quaker State 10w30 conventional.
I have Rotella T Triple Protection(White Bottle) 10w30 Purchased for his next change. just to give it a go. why not.
so far we've used, QS, and Wix Filters. (it uses the same filters my Neon did. when i sold the Neon, I still had 12 or so filters to give away.)

Supertech 10W30 will work good in your mower. Since you seem to be happy with the performance so far, stick with it.

I ran 15w40 in the Courage 20hp V-twin I had on a Cub Z-Force mower.
Summer I like the T6 5W40 .
Why is it so hard to stick with the manufactures recommended oil?
A lot of people think running a thicker oil is offering more protection. They forget about oil clearances in bearings and such and might actually starve the motor for oil. Honda says to use vanilla frosting but home owner Joe Smith says use chocolate???? I'm lost.
