2015 Kia Sorrento 2.4L GDI. Purchased 10/23 w 95k Miles. Very clean Carfax, appears very regular service. Good oil report at 98k w change. Last change 101k Pennzoil Plat 5W20. Now 105k no strange noises (for 100k+ miles). Added 1.5 Qt since change. I've read quite a bit about this engine and oil consumption, so oil consumption seems reasonable. Would there be any advantage/ harm to moving to 5W30 with next change?

My daughter has a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe with a 2.4 I don’t know if it’s the same engine. I run 5w30 and change it every 3000 miles. She is 18 and put 20k on the car since she got her license. So far so good

I’ve had 2 2.4’s. One was a 2016 Santa Fe we bought new. I started using 5w30 from maybe the 2nd or 3rd oil change. I also bought the “up dated” oil dip stick which moved the full marks up the stick to “allow” another 1/4-1/2 quart. We traded it in at about 100k and never had a bit of trouble out of it. Didn’t use any oil, and that engine was still the 1st gen Theta that had the most issues. If I remember correctly that global engine used 5w40 overseas.
