Hey folks, just purchased a 2021 Kia Seltos SX Turbo that has a DCT. Right around 34000 miles on it. Is there anything special about Kia OEM fluid, or is there an equivalent aftermarket brand that would work? I think the OM calls for an API GL-4, SAE 70w. And I assume it is the standard drain hole on the bottom/fill hole on the top, drain and refill with how much you took out procedure? Thanks in advance!

There are plenty of aftermarket DCT fluids that should work fine in your Kia.

Napa has Valvoline DCT fluid on sale for $7.99/qt this month.

Curious as to what KIA requires for fluid service on your vehicle and when you plan to drain and fill.
My Ford Focus DCT fluid was serviced at 65K miles, fluid looked very clean.

Cat, the only service requirement is "inspect every 37,500 miles or 30 months"...but I have heard some not too reassuring things in various Kia forums. Let me tell ya, that turbo 1.6L has some spark to it when you need to move quickly. It looks like previous owner kept on top of oil changes, but I want to err on the side of caution when it comes to the DCT.

Motul has a DCT fluid for around $15 per quart. You can find it on Amazon. I'm not sure if it meets specifications for your vehicle. Sometimes it's worth the peace of mind to just get OEM transmission fluids, especially for something that is changed so infrequently anyways.

I have run this at first as it is OEM spec

But I am running this NOW as I am tuned and tow. No issues even in -25 F Minnesota winters.

This is what Hyundai/Kia would run IF they did not have to push CAFE standards.

This is for the DCT transmission and the front diff as they both in the same cavity.

If you have AWD you will want to change the rear diff FOR SURE as it gets filthy dirty and the transfer case on my 2018 and I think the 2021 's are the last year of the DCT setup, both ours I think are the same. I use this for the both the transfer case and rear diff.

Just curious but why buy a kia with the 1.6 turbo and the dual dry clutch 7 speed, was it just gobs cheaper than an equivalent honda or toyota? How long do you intend to own this vehicle? Keep in mind your warranty goes down to 5 years and 60k for second owners.

Basically, it had all of the bells and whistles I wanted, at a lower price point than anything else on the market. Much better gas mileage than my old truck, too. AFA ownership length...well I suppose I'll keep it until I no longer need it. And yes on the warranty.

Just to let you know, be ready to fight Hyundai and Kia on some of their warranty. Don't sit back and except their first denial. They like to play chess, you need to, too.
