Posted by a newbie to that forum (as his first post) and the first response in the thread is "That's the oddest and most bogus sounding story I've ever heard!"
That’s not going to tell you anything you need to know. When I ran oil analysis in college for the fluid power and automotive engineering departments, sometimes really catastrophic failures where chunks of metal come off would not give a grossly poor report. Spectrographic analysis is not used to determine “how much” damage has occurred to an engine. That's not looking good, I'd get an oil analyze to further determine how much damage has been done to the engine.
I just find it interesting that the damage happens to be visible and accessible through the oil fill hole.
But I find a lot of things like that interesting.
https://www.thedrive.com/news/43430/toyota-oks-use-of-imperfect-parts-to-keep-production-goingIt may be that with the materials shortage, parts that were once discarded for imperfections, are now being used. So long as the blemish is cosmetic in nature only.
sounds like The OP should have... before posting it here?Give it time for verification .
Yeah, the more i look at it, you may be right.Nonsense. That’s deliberate damage done by someone through that fill hole for whatever reasons someone would do that.
