Instead of buying my 10 year old a new computer, my mom offered her old ipad (first gen) so she can write a book. I'm looking for a hard cover keyboard to jazz it up and let her type more efficiently. I've searched online quite a bit and haven't found one. Everytime I think I have it, it ends up being for mini 1 or air 1. I have found a few folio types but really looking for one to make it look like a laptop. Any ideas or leads would be appreciated.

That's going to be pretty difficult because of it's age. I can't readily find a new cover for my wife's 4th gen.

While it won't be a cover, any bluetooth keyboard should work unless there are bluetooth limitations with the 1st gen.

+1: As long as the iProduct speaks Blueooth, any Bluetooth keyboard ought to work even if it may not fit it like a glove. And there is always the caveat that Apple may have crippled its product so it only works with more Apple products.

I'm currently using an Anker keyboard cover with my Air2, works great. The reason I mention the bluetooth limitations is that for a while, don't know if this is still relevant, the iPhones had a limited bluetooth that wouldn't transfer data over bluetooth, just audio.
