wow Pixie is $230 !
If we ever bought one it would be Essenza or the model above that one.

I wish the Nespresso site had a model comparison chart.

You can pretty much buy these everywhere. I bought mine at JCP.

We use this Filter Basket . Found it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond for $15.

Any coffee you can find and purchase can be used, and the flavor is better than drip makers. We got ours from wife's parents and have been exploring what can be done with it. The Keurig makes a great cup of coffee, but without a filter basket it would be pretty spendy for me.

My wife bought a Keurig last week. She likes it although she pointed out that buying the coffee packs could get expensive.

But.....she bought it mainly for the reason of making a single cup of coffee at night. She was making a full pot of coffee and wasting most of it due to drinking the one cup.

I don't drink coffee at night as a rule.

Some manufacturer makes a plastic filter that fits into the keurig so you can put coffee grounds into it which makes that single cup a whole lot cheaper.

Agreed. The espresso/latte`s you can make with the Nespresso are great. I used one for the first time in a hotel in Chicago, and we liked it so much we bought one. The machine and cups are more expensive than Keurig, but the end product is also much better. Really though, the Nespresso is not for coffee, but espresso. If you want coffee, buy a good coffee machine.

Was it the Conrad on Michigan Ave? I know all the Conrad hotels have those in the rooms (the one in lower Manhattan did).

No, it was the Trump Towers. Great hotel, BTW.

We've had a Keurig for a few years now. My mom bought it for us, otherwise I never would've spent the money.

Once we got into it we really liked it. My wife drinks light coffee and I drink medium/dark. Being able to make a single cup of any coffee you want has its benefits during the morning rush around here.

Some of the packages used to be pricey but the cost has really come down lately. Walmart and Sams have huge selections now. So does Amazon.

I tried a few of the filter baskets and they were a pita. Messy and time consuming. Not really worth it IMO.

It seems to be well built. I think we're had ours about 3 or 4 years without any problems. We make at least 2 cups a day, more when we have company.

update:
Went with a Nespresso Citiz model. Found a good deal which had $75 Nespresso club credit included in the price, which you can use to buy nespresso pods, etc.

Thanks for all the feedback and info from all of you - it helped a lot.

Looks like this:
