Keep my step father and mom in your thoughts

Yeah not so lucky there.., They went to Riverside in Gloucester county.

But at least those world champions are handling things fairly well. So far…

My sister who has her PhD in nursing is there now. . And she can be like General Patton… So that is helpful.

I am having a rough time a bit with my illness. I have multiple sclerosis and I just need to rest and lay low for now…

And that’s hard hard for me to do…
our Lord has been listening to your prayers and mine and expect a miracle Bless you

Keeping your Mom and Stepdad in our thoughts and sending positive energy to you, Bradley. Hoping your Stepdad was admitted to Riverside Doctors' Hospital in Williamsburg as it is a top-notch facility.

Now my step father is going to be transported and transferred back to Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News… That’s where he had the surgery on Monday.

Which I believe makes sense to me.

Again, I'm keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers for a quick health turnaround. Hoping that he gets more individualized care at Bon Secours Mary Immaculate Hospital since his surgeon practices at that facility.

My mom had a crush fracture of her left big toe last Thursday… My step father who I love as much as my dad who passed away 14 plus years ago had a major back surgery on Monday and it’s not been going well…

He has a history of atrial fibrillation, on warfarin for that, and now a bowel issue and an infection now too. He almost had a syncope episode on Tuesday and then test he was in severe pain and he could not get up… Two men had to help him last night to get up and out of his chair. Mom had to call EMS to get him to the hospital at 6 am this morning.

Blood count is down significantly but not low enough for PRBCs transfusion. Which is ok but concerning to a degree.

He has been admitted to a local hospital which is a very good development. They were trying at first to get him into a rehab facility. Which he clearly was not stable enough for to be done…. Thank goodness better decisions have been made.

I’m worried guys….

I enjoy being on here and I am grateful for many of you regular guys on here. You all have taught me a whole, whole lot and helped me laugh a lot too over time. I have had some very, very dark times with in the past several years. Being on here has actually helped me get through those very dark times. Through getting a different and better perspective or just laughing and or being able to maybe be of help to someone else at times… All of that did indeed help me a lot. I am very, very, very thankful for you all on here. God bless you all. Sincerely, Bradley

Prayers sent sir. My mom is having some bad memory issues

Glad I’m out here with my mom
And stepdad.

Well my step father has made some solid progress in the past 3 days.. He agreed to go to rehab center. He looked fairly good on Friday evening.

Amazing how badly the hand off of care went between the hospital in my home county and the one where my step father had his surgery….

Bad, bad deal there….

Hang in there. I have complete empathy - father fell and broke his femur June 3. I flew down to CA right away and spent near the entire month caring for my 90 and 92 year old parents. Both have made not the best choices on the road to senility. They have not even really interacted with the outside world since before covid and think they can survive in their own home. Mom has brain atrophy dementia, dad has brain plaque dementia.

Anyway, prayers and thoughts!

I believe you’re doing the right thing by taking care of yourself
^^Absolutely this.
Your elders are in the care of many people in whatever hospital/rehab center.
It's easy to neglect oneself during times such as these....that's a known thing.
Lousy sleep, bad diet, smoke more(?), drink more (?); it happens.
You and they need you maintained.

They are lucky to have you Bradley - hang in there bud !

Well an update here…

And it is positive… My step father is doing a good amount better and back at home. Using his back brace and rolling walker well and doing physical therapy at home. My mom is getting better with her broken left big toe too. Quite a story here which I will share with you all on here later on. It will be meant to HELP you all know what is important when your loved one goes to a rehabilitation facility. It is not meant to be not picking or negative about the place where my step father went to. Just some big ticket things that were not handled the best and are very important.

I made them smoked pork ribs and beef ribs the other night. And slow cooked green beans has well. They enjoyed the pork ribs on Wednesday evening. Picture I have here show for that being done.,

I want to sincerely thank ALL of you guys on here. I am very grateful and thankful for you ALL. You guys are just awesome. Sincerely, Bradley

Well…

Now my step father is going to have to have a pacemaker surgically implanted…. Last Tuesday he was at a regular doctor’s office and his heart rate was grossly irregular… So his cardiologist had him taken to VCU medical in Richmond. He went to the ER and had a number of tests done. They got him stabilized as well and allowed him to leave to go home.

Surgery likely next week sometime…. One thing after another for him and my mom.

I knew a very, very nice lady from where I work at who had a pacemaker placed after she had been in ICU. Well a few weeks later she coded in the hospital and passed away. Her husband was there and made the decision to stop the process. . Had to be very hard on him.

I had spent time with her when her husband was in my facility. Gave her a hug and held her as she cried because her husband had been through so much in the previous 7 months. Hard to believe she is gone.

I know there’s no guarantees in things…,A pacemaker is helpful for sure but no guarantee. When it’s your time it is your time,Needless to say I won’t be telling my mom that recent event about the very nice lady. Though I have to say it is in the back of my mind…

I really, really appreciate all you guys on here.

Bradley, I hope things have gotten better? Praying for you and your family.
I have enjoyed reading your posts over the years. You have a lot of empathy and I hope you know that folks here on BITOG are hoping for the best.
