Hello men. Went up to the Kansas State Fair, and end up buying a Hustler lawnmower. It has the Kasawaki FX730V engine on it. I was wondering what a good replacement oil filter would be. And also what oil would you guys recommend? The book specs 10w30 & 10w-40 for my climate. Thanks

I was looking at those at my county fair this summer, nice mowers. I felt they looked better built than Ferris mowers that were on display there, the Ferris just seemed way more complicated than it needed to be, although it did seem like a comfortable mower. Around my area though, most landscapers seem to run exmarks.
My John Deere dealer has oil filters for anything that Deere makes-if that engine is also on a John Deere they might be a good source.
I've found my local John Deere dealer is at least competitive, if not a little less expensive for filters for my Deere equipment. All of the John Deere parts seem to be very good quality, although I'm sure the filters are outsourced and actually manufactured by someone else.

I found that to be the case with Cub Cadet as well. A genuine Cub hydraulic filter for the trans-axle was a few dollars less than one from Napa or Carquest.

Sorry I cannot supply you with a part number but I had the Kawasaki 29hp DFI on a Scag and loved the engine but hated the stock filter. I disliked it because it was flush with the side of the engine and you could not get a good grip on it to remove it. I ended up looking the specs up on the Wix website and found a filter that had the same base and diameter with a longer body. This helped out tremendously with the time it took to change oil.
