Because K&N is a USA Company or was. People hold USA standards higher than those in China maybe? Its a prejudice that continues to this day.
I try to by "American" but whatis "American" these days? Not much.
Ironically, My Samsung smart phone has Qualcom components in it which are made right here in San Diego, CA. Go Figure haha.
People just relate CHINA with CHEAP because most stuff from CHINA is just that CHEAP.

The Chinese are perfectly capable of producing high-quality items (e.g. Apple), but you are correct -- the US companies send it there and cheapen things up and pocket the difference.
