K&N filter with the hole ? what it do ?

I bought alot K&N oil filter today, I went to advance today and my friend last day at work their, so he sell K&N oil filter for 5 dollar each. I dont know how he do it, but I bought 10, this should last me many year I think. I look at the bottem and saw this hole, what it does ?

good steal for you. the tiny little hole in the nut at the end is there for speed wire - basically its to run wire through to ensure the part wont loosen. it's required on some parts for some forms of racing. i;ve never seen it actually used on an oil filter....

Yep he is correct. For safety wire.
