i own a 2001 silverado 4.3l. I try to keep up on the maintenance so i finally decided to upgrade my oil change routine. I purchased a K&N oil filter to use when i change the oil . everything went according to plan with the maintenance but, after a few months, my oil pressure began to drop. I checked the oil level everything seemed fine. So i went a couple weeks with the pressure dropping little by little. Finally it got to the point where i could not take it amymore.I changed the filter and the pressure went up to normal pressure. I stayed with this type filter for a year or so and again tried K&N again. Unfortunately the same thing happened. I only drive a couple thousand miles a year. I now use baldwin filters with no problem with pressure. Has anyone experienced a situation like this with K&N filters.

I never had a problem with the 2 K&N oil filters I used on my 2001 GMC w/5.3

I don't see how an oil filter can lower pressure. If it is plugged the bypass will open. If the media tears open the oil will flow freely through the filter. I believe pressure is measured before the filter. You might have a bad stepper motor or sending unit.
