I wont badmouth K&N's here but would point out that your annual filter change with the OE style was probably way overkill, Many of us here running restriction gauges (Filter Minder, Donaldson Informer, etc are doubling and tripling (if not more) the FCI by changing when the gauge indicates it's time.
When you do clean, treat that filter as you would a newborn baby to avoid decreasing the efficiency drastically by displacing cotton fibers. No matter what, every time you clean one, you lose a percent or so of initial efficiency.

Signs of distortion and regular dpf full warnings prior to the change which are now gone and it drives much better.
I put in a standard Mahle filter for now but they do a K&N filter for this vehicle. Couldn't find an Amsoil.
My reasoning is the vehicle is used in and around London so not really that dusty.

My reasoning to consider a K&N is purely to reduce the need to change. 50k a year means i could leave the filter in there for two years. As i strongly suspect the old one was.
Thank god i am a little bit anal with basic maintenance as if i had left that filter in for another 4k who knows what damage could have been caused. It really was that dirty.
