I had the engine running, idling at 180 degrees while I let the overflow drain out. I drained it right after I got home from Autozone, except for the maybe 6 or 7 minutes it took me to raise the car on jack stands. I put back the exact same amount of Valvoline fluid minus the nearly half a quart of overfilled Nissan fluid that I had drained out. It was just over 3 quarts. I did this job as much by the book as I could, with guidance from a Master Nissan Technician and a few other very knowlegeable guys on a well respected Nissan Technical Forum. The car runs and drives fine and the CVT does not act like there are any problems at all.The fluid has to be at a specific temperature before removing the checkbolt. Your CVT is likely underfilled now.
