Just smashed my Speedpass fobs with a hammer

Due to some really, really poor customer service from ExxonMobil on an issue where they had screwed up, I cancelled my Speedpass account with them, and took a hammer to my Speedpass fobs.

There's plenty of other gas stations out there. I guess I'll have to find another "Top Tier" vendor, because ExxonMobil is FAR from being top tier when it comes to customer service.

With all of my being, I recommend 76.

My sister bought some bad gas from them and got silt in her fuel lines. 76 picked up her vehicle, dropped off a donor vehicle, replaced the fuel lines, fuel filter and in-tank fuel pump filter at no cost. They paid for her donor car fuel usage, cleaned, washed and detailed her car and gave her a formal apology and $100 gas card.

No run around, all of this happened in 4 days. This was about 5 years ago. My family only buys 76 gas and has been all of our lives. Out of the 1 bad tank we got they treated us right.

I would recommend them also if I had this experience. Talk about a responsible company. Good job by Conoco Phillips.

+2
Best customer services I ever hear from an oil company.

I'm sure anything is circumstance. You can't defend 76 based on one person's luck just like you can't criticise Exxon based on one bad experience.

yes
some of the budget gas stations put in no additives, they say its not required by the governmnet so why should we

Too bad, I love my speedpass. Saves me 15 cents a gallon several times a year when they offer it. That and the top tier factor is nice too!

No, taxes are why.

If it weren't for all the blends then any refinery could sell into any market. Eliminating the boutique blend system would end the "we broke something" price swings because other refineries could take up the slack. Of course it's not going to be cost neutral for St Louis refineries to sell into the Chicago market whenever BP Whiting temporarily loses capacity - just for example - BUT it would at least be possible and that threat would keep the refiners honest about their down-time.

No 76 stations here as we have Phillips66 but it is the same company( Conoco-Phillips ). I agree they are a good companay to deal with and the gas seems to be top quality as well( my vehicles run better on it vs other brands ). I buy about 95% of my gas now from the P66 stations around here.

I have an ExxonMobil card but it is only for use when I need gas and no other options are around( pretty much vacations where Mobil stations are all you find on the highways - also during duck season when I need gas at 3AM the only station open is a 24 hour Mobil ). I feel the same about Mobil 1 products. I just don't do business with that company, in any manner, unless I absolutely have to.

Yes, it was too bad. But until some of these companies place some value on customer service, and in doing what they need to do, I will continue to make such moves. Despite how they may act, ExxonMobil doesn't have a monopoly going for gas in my town. Far from it.

I had a store credit card that the servicing for was "bought out" by Capital One. And the first thing that Capital One did was to mangle my name on the letter that they sent out to "welcome" me to Capital One. If I'm so valued, how is it that you're not even sure who I am?

That credit card was cancelled as well. If you can't figure out exactly who I am, then you don't deserve my business.

Why not? With what the OP is posting from my experience and my experience alone I am seeing a trend. I have had good experience with CP. My experience with XOM has left a lot to be desired. But I also understand that the inverse could be true, both are huge corporations. I will go out of my way not to purchase XOM products even spend more money because my experience with them has not been great. That does not mean someone's story could be different.

Would this be best buy credit card? Yeah same thing. Luckily they didn't mess up ky name but I've never dealt with capital 1 so I have no idea what to expect

Nope. Not Best Buy.

However, I can't figure out how Capital One took records that were correct with the previous company, and then proceeded to mangle them...?

Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. I do not want to do business with you.

I have great luck with there too with fuel also but did not even know it was top-tier. I shop there by price and location near my home. They also have a credit card machine and pumps that always work unlike the nearby Mobil and Shell stations.
