But, I love buying oil/filters on sale/rebates, discontinued/closeouts etc. and having a decent stash of oil/filters. I would have to say that my most expensive OCI cost today is ~ $10-$11 and that is using a PureOne filter, 2qts of PP or any name brand "syn", and 3 qts of any name brand "dino" held in high regard here at BITOG(PEAK, HavDC, GTX, PYB, QSGB etc.) My least expensive OCI's have been basicly $1, as even the FAR cost tax/postage. That's right, $1 for 5qts oil and a filter.
Knowing that I put in an oil/filter that is held in high regard here at Bob's and running the OCI to within a reasonable mileage/time(3K-5K), gives me a great sence of satisfaction for sure. The only time that I'll do a premature OCI(3K) is due to convenience because the weather is turning cold/winter and I just want ot get it done while I can.
I do know folks that still do 3mo/3K OCI and pay someone to do it for up to $30-$50 + tax, 3-4 times/year...$200/yr for oil/filters? WHEW! And that's each of their vehicles!
My SIL pays the BMW dealer $100 a crack for her Z4!
Well said.
My father pays the Dodge dealer about $150 to get his oil changed on the Sprinter. But that van takes 9.5 quarts of M1 0w-40 (Mercedes 229 requirement I think), a canister filter, and a fuel filter change at every OC. The dealer also throws in a tire rotation and a cabin air filter.
I'm not sure what that BMW oil change includes. If it's just
