For some reason, I get satisfaction from taking my Prius in to get its oil changed.

But at the same time, I get satisfaction from changing the oil myself, on neglected cars that are owned by my friends.

Weird, huh?

I can judge how well my relationship is going with my Girlfriend by the quality of Products I use in my Girlfriends vehicle. When its going real good, when I think she is #1, her vehicle gets Mobil 1 oil and Wix or Mobil 1 filters. When its not going so good, or I know she isnt the 1, its "Oil Change Special" time.

She use to go to Jiffy Lube or Tuffy but I put an end to that. She was getting charged $50 for a HM and a 3k OCI! I have changed all that. The car now has a diet of M1 HM and a napa gold and a 6k or 1 yr. The car is 75% city driving. After the first OCI on M1HM I'm sending a UOA off to check on the engine and for possible extension of OCI.

I can now sleep good at night knowing that the engine has been properly maintenanced.

Tuffy? What the [censored] is Tuffy? My Mom used to have a toy poodle named Tuffy.

In 74 I got Orange Peeler glasspacks for my 69 Mustang at Tuffy Muffler in Port Huron, MI.

A chain of service stores like Midas or Jiffy Lube.

I get a Tuffy every time I pour new oil into my engine.

Don't worry! Eventually you don't get a Tuffy for no reason.

Oh. I only do oc in my own 2 cars. Now it's a pain in the neck b/c I also suck & refill p/s, and rotate tires(very important for vehicles w/independent r/s, and other models too) at every oc.

I get a huge sence of satisfaction when changing the oil/filter(or any other repair) in all of our cars. Sure, I could get an oil/filter done at one of the local shops and use a coupon for $16.99-$18.99 + taxes I guess!

But, I love buying oil/filters on sale/rebates, discontinued/closeouts etc. and having a decent stash of oil/filters. I would have to say that my most expensive OCI cost today is ~ $10-$11 and that is using a PureOne filter, 2qts of PP or any name brand "syn", and 3 qts of any name brand "dino" held in high regard here at BITOG(PEAK, HavDC, GTX, PYB, QSGB etc.) My least expensive OCI's have been basicly $1, as even the FAR cost tax/postage. That's right, $1 for 5qts oil and a filter.

Knowing that I put in an oil/filter that is held in high regard here at Bob's and running the OCI to within a reasonable mileage/time(3K-5K), gives me a great sence of satisfaction for sure. The only time that I'll do a premature OCI(3K) is due to convenience because the weather is turning cold/winter and I just want ot get it done while I can.

I do know folks that still do 3mo/3K OCI and pay someone to do it for up to $30-$50 + tax, 3-4 times/year...$200/yr for oil/filters? WHEW! And that's each of their vehicles!

My SIL pays the BMW dealer $100 a crack for her Z4!

Well said.

My father pays the Dodge dealer about $150 to get his oil changed on the Sprinter. But that van takes 9.5 quarts of M1 0w-40 (Mercedes 229 requirement I think), a canister filter, and a fuel filter change at every OC. The dealer also throws in a tire rotation and a cabin air filter.
I'm not sure what that BMW oil change includes. If it's just

That's what the "Orange Can Of Death" is for!

I get a lot of satisfaction from the changing the oil in my family's cars, my own, and my boyfriend's. and the best part to me is picking which oil to use
