I stopped at our local Cumberland Farms GULF station to get some icecream and some gas, and as I walked by the oil aisle, I noticed a store-brand "Double-X Lube" 10w30 and 10w-40 on the same top shelf co-mingled with API cert SM oils. The SF designation was in fine print and after a quick read of the back label, I saw NO MENTION that the oil was unsuitable for use in modern passenger cars and light trucks. In fact there was a line in the text that read that this oil was " fully miscible with API SJ motor oil" and good for light duty diesels
I told the clerk not to sell anybody this oil thats driving a recent model car and that the oil shouldnt be on the top shelf with the other current oils. She told me to "call corporate". And no, I didnt buy any "Dos Equis" SF for my Toyota
PS: as a final insult, the stuff was priced at 4.09 per quart!
