July 2025 supply of new vehicle inventory by brand

Our local Toyota dealer had no RAV4's, used or new, to even test drive, so my parents ended up with a 1 yr old CRV hybrid, as our local Honda dealer has a 3/4 full lot. My manager also went with the CRV hybrid for the same reason, she could test drive one and get one off the lot.
Looks like it’s time to negotiate a good price on a Land Rover or Ram…
Yep, I think timing the RAM new/old model market is one of the cheapest ways to own almost any new vehicle, my Dad just traded in his 2018 Ram 1500 (lower trim but a nice quiet comfortable hwy driver) for 75% of what he paid. Just wait until the old model is 30+% off, buy it, and then resell in 5-8 years, as at that point, a simple clean lower trim truck is almost a selling feature and its ~40% the price of the current new truck, but basically drives the same....

We need a minivan and Toyota is our only option based on our desired features. Dealers are only given an allotment and you have to put $500 down to get on the list. Then you can pick from the allotment. If they don’t have what you want, you wait for the next allotment.

The only used ones out there with what we want are either 120k miles at $25k or 50k miles for $45k. New is around $50k.

If you want a new Pacifica, or a used one, there are a gazillion of them for sale. Not interested with a Chrysler product any longer.

Fingers crossed the old T&C holds on for a while.

Could it be that both the makers and their dealers discovered during the pandemic era that they could make more money on lower volume at higher prices with fewer headaches than they ever did on larger volume heavily discounted?
The other side of this is that the supply of good used cars at low prices is very limited.

The Pacifica is not really on anyone’s list now, but I rented a loaded hybrid for a long haul trip and was very pleased with the finish and comfort. It doesn’t quite have the feel of a Honda or Toyota, but for the careful owner who will maintain it carefully, given the number on the lots, it’s gotta be a heck of a deal.
