So today I took our 03 Expy 4.6L to the Saratoga Springs Hoffman Car wash/jiffy lube for the oil change. Went to the walmart across the street first and picked up a Motorcraft FL820S filter for it for $3.49 (Purolator PureONE) and took it to them. They agreed to use the filter, no price reduction though (Not surprising) and the regular change, which is 76 Brand Dino 5W-20. I asked and they let me stand and watch them change the oil. They didn't use impact wrenches for anything, they actually checked the other fluids, and they told me the air filter needed replaced (it did, replaced it later in the day with a PureONE P34878)but they didn't give me any trouble or anything. I was impressed. They were very professional. Hopefully the dealer will be just as good when we take it for the tranny fluid exchange.

Because it was convenient and my parents wanted to just let them do it, otherwise my dad would have done it.

Watching is always the key!!

I've used various quick lube places in the past and they have always provided excellent service. But don't think it's impossible to be 'had'. Watching will make sure you don't

There are some honest ones out there. Unfortunately they are not labeled with big signs so you never know what your going to get.

"Honest work done here"

or

"Not so honest work done here"

I have to say thus far, the 4.6 seems to like the Conco Dino over the MC Syn blend 5W-20. It definitely runs more smoothly. The MC had a bit of lifter tick at idle, it's gone now though.

$39.58 was the total, plus $3.96 for the filter. =\ I should have taken it to Monro or the dealer but I didn't think about it till later. My mom was getting her hair done and it was across the street from the mall so I got it done while she was doing that. We were trying to get a bunch of stuff done today and that just happened to be one of them.

I used to get oil changes in my f150 done all the time at the dealer, I was very happy with the service.

Mostly because I didn't feel like jacking the truck up and rotating tires in my driveway.

5w20 motorcraft and a good motorcraft filter is an excellent deal for 40 dollars.

I have never had any issues with my quick lube place. We have a Speedee Oil Change here in town. $30.99 for an oil change with Chevron Supreme, an oil filter, and a check of all fluids. I have never seen non-existent oil filter replacements or absolutely ridiculous recommendations, although they do pull the "air filter is dirty" game every once in a while. Fast service though!

I see you have never been to South Florida.

I have yet to find a honest quick lube place without taking you for a major hosing...I have actually seen fist fights erupt between customers and quick lube employees.

We take all our cars back to Ford for oil changes..Plus we keep a close an eye on them also.
