Jeep owner gets last laugh over Corvette parking

Disagree... its inconsiderate of others take two places, unless you have a trailer that needs a space behind your truck (and do THAT in the remote part of the lot, too.)

I always park in the back row of our remote lot at work. Several other "car guys" do the same- we park every other space and we keep an eye out for each other as we come and go at different times.

Sometimes there are conferences and those spaces fill in with visitors... and I wouldn't want to make a conference attendee angry at me (and my car), so the safest smartest thing to do is PARK IN THE !!@$ LINES! Nevermind that its just the right thing to do.

Lately there's been a couple of noobs parking in our area. One comes in and throws off the every-other-space thing, which is a little irritating but not awful. Its the OTHER one that comes in and straddles the line in the two spaces that remain by the other guy who inspires us to leave corrective notes on his windshield. And finally inspired the facility patrol to ticket him...

It's one thing to take up some extra space at the back of the parking lot, next to the dumpster where no one parks. I do that sometimes with our one car. PDR costs a lot on that one.

It's another thing to double-park at the front door. I've even seen them take up HP spots. Jerks.

That guy got what he deserved. It's not even that nice a 'Vette.

I've done this when I had my '97 Legacy. It was one of those cars in which I was so fed up with receiving scratches and scrapes on seemingly weekly basis, that I decided to say, "to heck with it" and teach jerks like this a lesson. I'm pretty sure my last few scratches came this way, so was it worth it? Heck yea! Who do these guys thing they are?

See below: there are usually so many ways to avoid other drives, like parking farther away. When you take up two spots in the nearest spots, you're the worst kind of scum.

Exactly. Park far away and walk, or leave the Garage Queen in the garage. The Jeep owner isn't the brightest candle on the birthday cake either.

I park far away, because I'm not lazy. I park in the first pull-through spot I find or the spot that's the safest/easiest to leave from. Sure as heck beats wasting time and gas to save 15 extra seconds of extra walking.

Agreed, adding one thing, as long as there's no shortage of parking spaces elsewhere in the lot. Do it often myself now to avoid the careless and clueless causing door dings. And the extra walk to and from the car is good exercise.

Seems 'imo' the Corvette owner felt a sense of entitlement to park that close and take two places. As long as the Jeep owner didn't damage the Corvette, I have no problem with what he did.

Did the Corvette owner get the message? Probably not.

I did that once, at the grocery store. Some jerk in an SUV (I think it was a 4Runner) had taken up two spaces. I was in the Bug, so I was able to squeeze in on his driver's side without going over the lines, myself. When I went back out, someone else in a CRX had squeezed in on his passenger side. The 4Runner's driver was pacing back and forth behind his vehicle, raging so hard his head was about to explode because he couldn't open either of his doors.

He said, "DO YOU THINK THIS IS FUNNY?!?!"

I said, "Yes, I do!" and laughed at him while I took my time loading my groceries.

Good times.

As an aside: As I usually do, I once parked near the end of the parking lot, next to the curb that separated the parking lot through-way and the parking lot even farther away. I parked there, because it was quick and gave a great view of the lot, making it easy to jump right back onto the main through-way and on to the exit without any risk of parking lot maniacs flying past while I'm trying to exit a spot.

Anyway, I came out and some jalopy was parked right next to me, across his or her parking spot line and close enough that, if I had a passenger, they'd have to squeeze in. I'm not sure if they were "teaching me a lesson" in humility or just trying to be funny, but I just found it odd. Maybe they were filming me while I checked that side of my then-new STI for signs of damage.
