Happy Spring BITOG'ers. I have some questions for you, please feel free to respond. the signature specs. are updated.
BackGround) I've run 6 qts. of Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40 for over 3,000 miles in my beloved Jeep Wrangler with its 4.oL I6. The reason I ran the (Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck) is because I was experiencing mad valve tick in the fall/winter here in New Jersey, and friends here on BITOG recommended it as a good synth. oil with tremendous cleaning additives. The valve tick has indeed cleared up, but lately, every now and then, I've been getting a hint of it again.
Question 1) With 3,ooo miles having been driven on January's 6 qts. of M1, 5-40 (Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck), is it time for me to replace the engine oil with another run of (Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck)?
Question 2) Will it suffice if I change the filter and add a top off qt. with the same oil?
Question 3) If the above is recommended, which filter do you recommended of the few I have now: a Wix, Fram, Stp, Mopar, or K&N?
Question 4) If I'm to change just the filter and top it off with 1 qt. of (Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck), how many total miles should I leave it in there for before I do a fresh fill?
Question 5) Whats TBN?
Predisclaimer) Yes I know I dont have to type (Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck) for Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5w40; but it looks sooo cool.
Disclaimer) Some of you here must roll your eyes everytime you see me post, thats why I took 2 months off earlier; but heres the deal. You know as well as I do about how bad it is out there, and friends from the looks of everything I see on Bloomberg, and Fox, etc., its not getting better anytime soon (before 2010). I love Jeep. I didn't say I love 'my' Jeep mind you, I adore my Jeep, and also love the company it was manufactured by. To me it's as American as you can get. (Daimler Chrysler aside...) I want to keep my vehicle for a very very long time, God-willing, and will do whatever I can (legally) to make that happen. So you can see why its so important to me to do things right, and get input by you aficionados, experts, fans, freaks, and friends at BITOG.
I do want to say I'm sorry if you tire of me or my questions, and thank you for your time.
God Bless America.
