Someone could, but they wouldn't be in business long. Oil suppliers have good reasons for saying that their oils are suitable for use in the applications they mention, it's not just hopes and prayers. For many ATF requirements there are no published specifications or approvals, so "suitable for use" is the best an oil company can attain if they are not the incumbent supplier.

I've just watched that in parts. He doesn't appear know how many OEMs work. He says that a particular bottle holds "no licence numbers" for various Japanese OEMs. Those OEMs don't issue licence numbers. They don't have a general fluid approval system that any supplier can apply for. He seems to apply the GM and Ford licensing model to all other OEMs, and this is just wrong.

Yes I was going to say, the material in the video is not of professional quality. It sounds like he's grumpy or has a bone to pick.

Regarding JATCO / CVT fluid, I just picked up some 5L jugs from CT this weekend. They had them on "clearance" from $55 to $33 but they seem to be back to retail now?

Okay, it's still on clearance if you select a store w stock. Made in Canada by Irving. Would like to find the specs for it.

In the versa I used both Idemitsu and later castrol transmax with great results. First fluid change was after I got it at 100k miles and it survived to 240 k miles
