Jagged fill hole?

When I went to take a picture of the fill hole for another post I saw this at the leading edge of threads for the oil cap:

I guess I have three options:

1) leave it alone
2) grind it down with a dremmel when I take the cover off for a valve adjustment
3) get a new valve cover. They are around $110.00 without the gasket.

I never noticed it before. Have no idea if it was like that from the factory or if something happened along the way.

Yep...unless there is a functional issue DO NOT mess around with it.

If your pulling the valve cover anyway smooth it down. If not leave it alone

Whatever was there must have broken off and fallen in. You should cut down on the strong additives which are melting the metal in your engine.

I wouldnt do anything unless I had the VC pulled. It does not look right though...

Either it's casting mess, or the fill-hole has been damaged by a garage's overhead fill hose. These are heavy and, if used carelessly, can dent and chip the fill hole.

Leave it alone. Any collateral damage that was going to happen has already occurred.

A little C-4 will fix that right up.
