Recently had a coworker ask for help on their 100k service in their 2016 hrv at 119k after a 700 dollar quote that just covered spark plugs and a valve adjustment. She stated oil was at 11k before this as well so I did a full fluid service as well as the plugs and adjustment.

As far as she knows no other fluid than oil had been changed up to this point and from left to right is motor oil, coolant, cvt and brake fluid. I thought the plugs looked pretty good for 118k but new ngks went in anyways. Forgot to take pics under the valve cover or of the rear diff fluid but it looked like the atf shown. Also noticed the transmission fill plug was laying next to the hole it was supposed to be in so who knows how long that had been there.

Fluids used: Kirkland 5w30 engine oil with an ecogard filter, Zerex Asian blue coolant, Aisin hcvtf atf, Supertech dot 3 brake fluid and Honda oem dual pump 2 for the rear diff.

All in all this was an incredibly easy car to work on. It took about 2.5 hours it total to change every fluid, the spark plugs and adjustment the valves.

That fill plug will pop out if pressure builds up...If you look near that plug you will see a small black plug that will get pluggrd up over time...You need to pull it out and clean the vent hole on it...I bet it is plugged up with krud...I have a 21 HRV and yes it is a very easy car to work on...

The CVT's on those HRV's were bad news, Honda had a 7/150k warranty extension on them. I hope it doesn't fail now that you've touched it...
Nice job, hope nothing goes wrong in the near future, they will blame you.
I have had a few good deeds punished but that wont stop me from doing them

For the CVT only use the Honda fluid. I would not play dice with them.

The failure on those is most always push belt bands breaking.
Defects in the TCU firmware are the most dangerous thing to an AT / CVT. Make sure yours is up to date and search for TSBs related to your vehicle / transmission. That aside, the brand of fluid will not matter, it's the temperature control and lack of maintenance that will do damage. Keeping the magnets in the transmission clean is of prime importance.

On that note I was planning on doing another ctv service but dropping the pan to clean any magnets and change filters at the next oil change. The plug was magnetic but had very little surface area compared to the other Honda drain plugs I have seen.

Just note that on the HRV CVT some of the pan bolts are different lengths...so be sure you install them back in the same hole....
