This limited warranty covers the lubricant and critical engine parts lubricated by the lubricant. ExxonMobil warrants its lubricants to be free from defects and that the lubricant you purchased will protect your vehicle's critical engine parts from oil related failure.

Be advised that if your vehicle is covered by a warranty, you should follow the vehicle's oil life sensor or the oil change interval recommended in your owner's manual to avoid a disruption in your vehicle warranty. Follow your owner's manual if the vehicle is operated in any of the following severe services: racing or commercial applications including taxis, limousines, etc.; frequent towing or hauling; extremely dusty or dirty conditions; or under excessive idling conditions.

What the Mobil 1 Extended Performance limited warranty does not cover
This limited warranty excludes:
Mobilâ„¢-branded lubricants used in mechanically deficient equipment as a result of abnormal operation; negligence; abuse; damage from casualty, shipment or accident; or equipment modification done without written authorization from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM)
Situations where the OEM required lubricant standards do not match those stated by ExxonMobil without written approval from ExxonMobil
Mobil-branded lubricants that have been used in conjunction with any other product or additive that has not been authorized for use by ExxonMobil
Failure of equipment due to a pre-existing condition that is unrelated to the use of Mobil-branded lubricants
Repair or replacement of equipment due to normal wear
What the period of coverage is
The Mobil 1 Extended Performance limited warranty is valid for 15,000 miles or your vehicle's OEM recommended oil change interval, whichever is longer.

Additional requirements for all Mobil 1 Extended Performance products include:

Oils must be put in service not later than five (5) years from the date of purchase; and
an oil change must be completed every twelve (12) months
What we will do to correct problems
ExxonMobil will replace any lubricant that is defective. In addition, if there is equipment failure due to the lubricant you purchased, and the engine was serviceable at the time the oil was installed, ExxonMobil will repair any equipment damage directly caused by a defect or malfunction of the lubricant, at no cost to you, provided that the lubricant was selected and maintained in accordance with specifications of the OEM or the written instructions (which includes product packaging) of ExxonMobil.

How you can get service
To file a claim under this limited warranty, you must:
Upon discovery of the damage (but not later than six (6) months from the date the damage occurred) call 1-800-AskMobil (1-800-275-6624)
Allow an ExxonMobil representative to examine the equipment and maintenance records, if available, and provide proof of purchase to determine the extent of the damage and to confirm that the lubricant was the cause
Allow an ExxonMobil representative to obtain an oil sample from the engine for oil analysis at no cost to you to assist in determining the cause of the equipment failure


How state law relates to the Mobil 1 Extended Performance limited warranty
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.

The remedy provided here will be your only recovery against ExxonMobil. You will not be able to recover incidental damages (for example, transportation costs to and from the ExxonMobil representative for inspection of the equipment, loss of use, towing charges, bus fare, car rentals or other incidental damages) or consequential damages (the cost of repairing or replacing other property which was damaged when the lubricant was defective). Some states do not allow the exclusion of or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
 
So it looks like it's 15,000 miles for M1 (Amsoil is 25,000 miles) unless operated in Severe Duty then it's what the manual calls for (Amsoil is 15,000 miles).
Also Mobil is suggesting you use the OLM / Manual OCI while the vehicle is under warranty.

It would be better if Amsoil stated the mileage limits in the actual warranty statement, at least in my opinion. Kind of leaves it up to interpretation otherwise. One might make the claim that Amsoil has no mile limit to their warranty.

I would also suggest that this statement in the Amsoil warranty also restricts the limit while the vehicle is under the OEM warranty:

I changed my post as I re-read that after with regards to the OEM limit. I apologize you caught that before it was changed. (Sort of doing multiple things at the moment)

As for the mileage limit they say up-to 25,000 miles so I guess that is all encompassing but if you look at the labels on the bottle which are easy peel booklet style it's listed in there what normal duty and severe duty are as outlined in the FAQ I posted above.

I imagine that a lawyer came up with the wording in the warranty statement and as it's defined in the booklets on the bottles I think that is where it counts.

No one but us reads actual warranty statements but we will read bottle labels.

I will say this though... Where Amsoil Signature Series shines over other oils is extended drain capability. If the average user is using it for a regular OCI of 10K miles or less it has no benefit over quality name brand shelf oils.



Well a lot of bitogers use it for less than 10K OCI's for the sake of cheap insurance. Which really makes no sense.

Keep in mind they would have to have warranty statements for each product if it was that specific. One for their oils, gear oils, transmission fluids etc. This way they list it on the product where applicable and use a generic statement in the certificate of warranty. No other Mobil product claims extended drain intervals like the EP/AP products do. Eg: Their transmission fluids are all OEM interval etc.

For the most part I agree with you except in the higher performance applications like Turbo's where they also shine in terms of cleanliness of turbo bearings under extreme temperatures.

Well the other engine oil warranty intervals are defined here as well as ATF and filters:

So you do get extended intervals for some other products. But you are correct that the Mobil ATF warranty is limited to the OEM interval. What defines the warranty period for the Amsoil ATF product?
 
For normally spec'ed "Lifetime" fluid fills it is also a Lifetime fluid.

For severe duty applications it can be changed at twice the interval the OE recommends.

For normal applications they ask you to refer to their online guide for application specific intervals. It has been my experience that it's usually double what the OE says it should be changed at. I did this in my journey and it was still bright red and clean at this interval.

AMSOIL ATL (and OTL) meets all Toyota type WS fluid requirements and is recommended. I do not have test results for the OE Toyota fluid.

Toyota says the WSS fluid is a "Lifetime" fill, but that is under "Normal" service conditions, and is true for the OTL as well as the ATL fluid.

Under Severe Service conditions, they say the fluid should be changed at 60,000 miles or 72 months, whichever comes first. Based on this the AMSOIL ATL can be used for twice as long ----, up to 120,000 miles or 144 months.

Well im not sure where you got your price data from but the most ive ever paid for Schaeffer oil is 6$ quart. I buy by the 5Gal pails and the most ive ever paid is 120$. Depending on viscosity/grade some of their oils are around 100$ 5 gal pail. The difference between Schaeffer is they have 2 friction additives. 1. Penetro reduces friction by adding what is like microscopic ball bearings in the oil. 2. Micron moly is oxidized molybdenum that is magnetically attracted to ferrous metals. It is five times stronger than steel and has a melting point that is twice as high as steel. Even under the heaviest loads Micron Moly will not pound out. I switched from using amsoil and redline to Schaeffer and immediately noticed a smoother quieter running engine. Ive also seen the timken bearing tester and Schaeffer oil blows everyone away. Yes the timken machine does not represent an engine, its worse!! So if it can handle way more load and have a smaller wear scar think of what kind of protection that is for your engine. My auto class teacher in high school is the one who introduced me to it. The whole class was in awe after testing dozens of oils then the teacher brings out this green oil in a washer fluid jug. After everyone was shocked he told us what brand it was.

Note that they now require an average speed of 35.7MPH for the entire OCI to reach that mileage, having further "neutered" their advantage.

And as I've already shown...Mobil was advertising 40,000km protection in the '80s in Australia...and would defend that on tech calls once out of warranty.
 
No, I know when I'm not going to get somewhere so I don't bother which is the case with our discussion in this thread. I didn't bring anything into this thread. It was about AMSOIL to begin with.

You decided to spout off about things and I corrected you with information regarding their testing.

I also came back at you for the off the cuff comments above based on nonsense and I don't wish to argue it further because your opinion isn't based on fact and you have a hard time seeing things from another perspective I won't go into the "why" I think this is the case because you won't like the answer.

So I'll end this post here and leave it be.

With a lot of turbo applications in modern engines the boost is really low and it is not stressing the oil. The bearings will look near new with basic API certified oil at OCI's less than 10K. There is no reason to change AMSOIL Signature Series at 10K for "cheap insurance".

Got a link or proof for that? I've seen my fare share of cooked turbos from coking with 6K mile OCI's on quality oils.
