Look, the number of turbos on Australian roads is massive.

Many of the diesel engines have called for simple 15W40 diesel specs, A3/B4 or C3...Dexos 2 is more recent (including in the gassers, as I've previously explained). Ford, on their high performance turbo 6, also called for 15W40 SL...a grade scarcelely likely to be syntetic, and certainly not called for being a synthetic in the manual.

There are literally millions of turbos in the country, and most of them not running any type of synthetic.

If your claims were true, there would be a pile of failed turbos at every street corner, and that's simply not the Australian experience.

Unless you've got links to photos of these piles, I'll have to suggest that you are looking at the issue through the eye's of a convert to tricky advertising, rather than rationally evaluating the evidence.

Many years running large CAT turbocharged engines … those snails literally red hot … mostly Mobilgard

The refinery expansions increased GII+ output to where Delo and Delvac conventional HDEO 15w40 have a NOACK below 12 … and what a bargain those robust lubes are …

So they use minerals oils in turbo diesel engines in Australia?
 
We did here in North America as well originally and there were all sorts of bearing failures because the oil technology isn't where it is today. Albeit turbos have also gotten better as well.

Your claim is out of the norm so so you have graphs and figures to substantiate this?
 
I provided an article that backed up my claim about Turbo's in the past being terrible in their reliability. Their words not mine. There isn't a study that I'm aware of that I can provide.

Besides it being "fair share" I was wondering how many you've actually seen and where? Gee whiz I take care of my in-law's cars and help out two neighbor ladies and I've not seen anything of the sort. Exactly where and how are you coming across all these coked turbos? And how do you "see" them, do you take them apart?
 
That's my phone doing that (auto correct). I'm on my office PC now. In the late 1980's, 1990's is where I saw the most. Then they became unpopular in the mainstream brands and sort of went away and now they are back. The newer ones I haven't seen fail except under heavy miles or where it was just the odd ball failure like any other part but nowhere near the numbers of the 1980s/1990's.

I have seen probably at least a hundred or more if I had to muster a guess, mainly on Chrysler vehicles but some others, in the shops my dad had that I worked at.

Yes and no. Mainly oil related but also design.
 
And you needed the cold cranking benefits more than most places … folks not quite as scared to turn one off these days …

Where did I say or imply that? I made a comment about synthetic oil only. I didn't specifically say Amsoil. Go back and check. I'll wait here.

Amsoil have enginering in top class. Cant really undersand why so much hate off a oil brand.
