ITC Bans Import and Sale of Roku Products.

This is bad news. I have 4 Roku boxes and use them every day. I assume that this also includes Roku TVs.

We have 5 Roku players and one Roku TV.
Dont sweat it, No one is going to close down Roku, in fact the stock price went up $17 a share Friday after taking a hit Wed.
Roku states this has already been dealt with. Seems like a non event...either way, Roku isnt going anyplace even if they ever had to pay a royalty fee.

So this company that I'm not really familiar with likes filing for patents for vague UI descriptions and then playing patent troll.

"On Dec. 3 the ITC publicly issued its favorable final determination in UEI’s patent infringement case against Roku, concluding several Roku products infringe a UEI patent and barring the importation and sale of those products. The orders will become final on January 9, 2022". The last time I looked at the calendar, December 3 comes after November 10. First the ITC absolves Roku and less than a month later they ban the import and sale of them? These statements are directly contradictory. So, which one is it?
I strongly suspect that Roku will end-up paying royalties to UEI. That's all UEI wants anyway, the money.

Yeah I was confused as well and that’s why the first thing I did was look at the stock price. Wall street knows what’s going on and seeing that Roku‘s stock price wasn’t cut in half I knew there must be more to the story.
But the bottom line is Roku says they’re not concerned. Reading more into it it looks like on November 10 two of the three patent infringement claims were thrown out leaving one patent infringement claim valid as of December 3.
After seeing this I really didn’t look much more into it but it seems as Roku is not the least bit concerned even if they had to change some thing around or they already have taken care of it. I could be wrong on this but I think it just had to do with the remote control but I don’t know.
You can see on December 3 the ITC says infringes on a patent which is a singular word and did not use the word patents.
You will notice on November 10 the words two of three patents which I believe left that one remaining one was ruled on December 3 as infringing

I wouldn't be heartbroken with a different/better remote control (my Rokus are all Premieres). Perhaps it has something to do with Roku's voice remote on the Ultras?
Then there is Roku's patent infringement lawsuit against UEI which has not as yet been heard.

I had Roku in the past and wasn't impressed at all.
Went with IPTV set top unit and a subscription, much much better for the money. TV channels, TV shows, movies, annual subscription is less than my monthly TV/Internet bill.

UEI is a company known for remote controls - all the cable companies(Comcast included) use their remotes.
