is valvoline synthetic any good?

i am looking to get havoline syncpower. on paper, it outperforms even the maxlife synthetic!!! wondering i anyone has used it. its for a 1995 plymouth neon, 69,000 miles. engine requires 3 month oil change intervals though, alot of stop and go trafic here, stop signs, you name it! but wnat maximum prtoection, and money isnt a concern here.

For three month oil change intervals I would run regular Maxlife. How many miles to you go in three months? Unless you do about 6 or 7 thousand in three months, you should not need synthetic. Regular Maxlife has some PAO in it (about 12-22% per the MSDS).

It's Valvoline Synpower. Havoline is a totally different brand of oil.

Any GF3 or GF4 that's SL or SM will protect your engine well for 3K OCIs.... even Wal*Mart's Super Tech synthetic brand. There are a couple of posters here at BITOG climbing the 300K ladder with it.

If you insist on paying top-dollar for a fancy name-brand that excels at extended OCIs, buy Amsoil 3000 or Red Line.

Synpower is perfectly fine stuff. However a jug of Mobil 1 at Walmart is generally a little cheaper. Guy on my truck site tows a Mustang race car with a Ranger, has a bypass filter, runs Synpower for 15k at a crack, and rolled up over 150k on his previous truck and he says it still ran like new.

Valvoline has a good web-site. If you go there and plug in the info for your car, conventional oil will be recommended. Synpower would be fine, but not necessarily a benefit, just because you pay more.

Since you don't have a turbo or hi-performance ride, I couldn't say that you'd get any better protection.
