Is tranny fluid change every 2 years overkill?

I bought my car in 2012.
I guess tranny oil that time would have been Honda ATF Z1.
I drain and filled 3 liters each time, once in 2012 then 2014 then 2016 with Honda full synthetic dw1
in these 6 years I have driven 70000 kms . 70% highway, 30% stop and go.

Do you guys think this approx 12000 kms per year drive , should I keep on changing every 2 years as manual says...
I checked the color on white paper. its really pink colour as near as new... smell is bit acidic sort of.. definitely does not smell like new..

what you guys think?

If you can afford it then do it. The car will appreciate it. I also do regular partial drain and fill on my tranny since it's simpler and keeps the additives replenished.

I do every other oil change on all 3 of my Honda products. It might be overkill, but bad fluid is not going to be why any of my 3 die. Two of them will die because that's just what they do, and the 3rd will be because I haven't been kind to it, although I generally am, but sometimes it just needs driven hard.

A 3 liter change every 2 years doesn't seem to be over maintenance.

I would continue to follow Honda's recommendations.

If you're intending to keep the car for a long time, then consider fuller exchanges and / or better filtration.

Your regimen is not overkill. I change mine every year (about 15k miles). Probably overkill, but it is cheap insurance against fluid breakdown.

ok then next question, mechanic that I go to keeps Eneos atf and said that its even better than Honda dw1 . I told him that I have been putting dw1 since 2012 and its very smooth. Even though he said he can put dw1 for me , I am skeptical that he must be getting eneos cheap so he will tell me that he will put dw1 but he will actually put eneos.
have you guys put eneos ever? I am thinking to take the car to dealership to avoid any fluid related issues. I don’t like going to dealership but in this case I don’t think I have choice...

OEM ATF in a 15 year old car would not be my course of action unless it needed to be OEM or it was competitive on quality or price. Best retail ATFs that are available to me are 1. Castrol Transmax Synthetic @ Costco or 2. Valvoline Maxlife Dino @ Walmart? not sure if they still have it.

Maybe slightly overkill, but it's so easy to change the ATF in a Honda, so why not?

Now if you had a V6, then even annual ATF change wouldn't be enough

I get you but I heard these Honda trannys are very sensitive to oil...Although mine is not V6 which is said to be a tickeling time bomb . Mine is I4 but I don’t want to take a chance.

my crown vic every 30k my escape every 60k i want my transmissions to last forever... the vic i beat on it and the escape is a rental car so i do what i can for reliability and longevity

:-)

I do a drain and refill on my Accord every other oil change. Not overkill IMO as it only removes 3 quarts per drain.

Every two years or so is what I do on our 7th gen accord. Don't forget the transmission filter, it's on top of the transmission.

hmmm.... Manual does not talk anything about tranny filter...This is debatable I guess. I don’t think even deal changes tranny filter
