Is that correct?

I have never heard that personally. Must be a reason the bike owners want to distance themselves from the cars.

Urban Dictionary agrees with my memory, but honestly, not important. I just recall that we all thought BMW's were a REALLY big deal in the 80's. Now, not so much.

This GDI stuff looks like a completely different game. This setup may promote meeting new government requirements but without some serious upgrades in engineering, materials and methods I'd be willing to bet it's not working out so far for reliability when it comes to higher mileage.

GDI has about 3000 PSI at the injectors. There is usually an electric pump in the gas tank that brings fuel to about 60-75 PSI, then there is a pump mounted to the engine that brings the PSI to 3000.

I have never seen a filter between the high pressure pump and the injectors. That makes me suspect that any wear occurring at the high pressure pump could harm the injectors.

Diesels have a much higher fuel injection pressure, but I'm not familiar with how long fuel injection parts last.
