Does anyone have access to an application guide or interchange for windshield glass?

I'm hoping to find if there are other cars that have the same glass as my 1985 Toyota Camry..

Thanks for the help!

You might be looking for the NAGS number? This usually starts with "FW" (for import vehicles) or "DW" (domestics) and then there is 4 digit code that follows. Ex: FW3434 or DW1234.

The Carlex website has a somewhat useful lookup tool, but it's not complete. You might have to tweak the model year.

Thanks guys!

Unfortunately, neither of those sites have a listing for this (older) model.. Good to know about the NAGS system - I will check my glass to see if it has this listed on it..

Got the NAGS number, FW00455, and now I'm off to find a windshield that works.. So far no cross-references.. I was hoping to hit a GEO or Chevy product, since some seem to share assembly lines back in the 80s, but no luck so far.

There are a few clearance windshields online, but when factoring in shipping they become outrageously expensive

If you just need ANY windshield, your local glass companies will probably sell you their lowest grade for around $100 (or $150 installed). In the past few years, the market has been flooded with low quality Chinese windshields. Although I can't say if this would apply to a 1985 Camry. You might actually get lucky and score a real Pilkington or NSG for that price.

Avoid DOT code 563 if you can. It's XYG which is trash grade.

For a car that old, FYG will be fine. The only other glass you can find is maybe NOS PPG(DOT 18 or 129, as pre-Vitro/LKQ PPG Auto Glass had Viracon make some of their parts) or an old Safelite(DOT 65, junk).

Benson has been flooding the market as of late, LKQ has been selling XYG glass with the PGW brand for the last few years. Avoid. Basically, DOT 18/20/23/129/177/459/747 should be OK.

While Toyota has used butyl tape to install the windshield on their older cars, please have the install done with urethane. Sika or Dow, Safelite is using the new Sikatack Mach 30 stuff with a 30-minute safe driveaway time.
